We are scheduling the shoot now but have to confirm some things with the stage, the production designer and the casting. I'll provide a proper update when available. Thanks!
Hi Folks, I was hoping you might be able to help our video producer, Matthew Hightshoe, fix his eyes. Thanks to our stupid health care system he has to pay for it himself:

L.A. friends! I am shooting my sci-fi short film August 18-19-20. Hooray for us! Does anybody have a backyard that could pass as the wilderness where I can take an underage actor and a prop rifle and shoot a few shots? (Shots of digital film, that is, not gunshots!)
We can't do this in a public park without incurring a ton of permitting and security costs.
I noticed that Mr. Jones will be recording the score in my neck of the woods. Is there going to be an opportunity for people to attend the recording sessions? Even if that was a perk, that’s something I would be interested in. I have already donated but I would not mind donating more for such a purpose.
Hi Turbo, sorry, forgot to respond to this sooner: I'll ask, but I don't think this is going to be practical, mostly because it's going to be a vintage, 1970s/80s style synth score, not an orchestra score. So it's mostly Ron and his team programming computers, nothing much to see! Also I'll probably be staying in L.A. with my family and wouldn't be there to act as a host.
Hey folks, an exciting update—we shot the film last weekend (most of it, at least, we have a half a day of flashbacks yet to shoot). It came out great!
I am not allowed on Indiegogo to solicit financing on an investment basis. However, I can do that here.
I need $30K to finish the short (postproduction sound, VFX, etc). I am selling 6 shares of $5K each, and you'd get 20% return when we make the feature next year (the film company will acquire the short and reimburse the investors).
If you're interested in seeing a sample clip from the shoot (it's awesome!!!) and have the means to invest (NOBODY IS ALLOWED TO USE RETIREMENT FUNDS!!! - my rule), email me: lukas@filmscoremonthly.com
If nobody invests I'll just use my credit card, but I'd much rather give 20% interest to investors and not MasterCard.
Word to the wise, y'all. Make sure you use those discounts before they expire! I realized in a panic this morning that I missed the SAE window for deep discounts on certain FSM titles. I'd even set up calendar entries for them but life still has a way of taking over. No one to blame but myself so I am just passing along the message to anyone in the same boat. Use those codes!
I’m online buddies with Robert Meyer Burnett and he’s been talking about this project and even posted some pictures. This is looking really solid Lukas! Now I’m really interested in checking this out!

Thank you! We just finished with the VFX and the sound mix is next week. I'll be back here ASAP with news...!
Lukas, I found what appears to be an incorrect entry on the short's IMDb page. Under "Other Crew" Douglas Cambron is listed as "puppy-hating seriel killer". If this is some poorly worded credit and it Other Crew is correct, let me know. If it/s an acting credit, Other Crew is the incorrect section and I need to move it. And correct the incorrectly-spelled word.

Douglas Cambron is one of our donors as a "Puppy Hating Serial Killer" via Indiegogo. (The joke was for $39 you could have a credit on the film; the catch is it's a very stupid credit.)
Justin, please hang on, the short is almost done and I'll send you the complete credit list to fix everything. Just give me a little bit of time please.
UPDATE: The film is done! Here is a live video that my friend and editor Rob Burnett shot at the mix earlier this week, for his youtube channel:
This might as well be a good time to break the bad news...that Ron Jones ended up NOT scoring the short.
It's really as simple as what people say all the time...it was creative differences.
Behind that, however, it's my fault, as I made one big mistake: I told Ron he could have a free hand for the score, and then when his first demos came in for themes and ideas, I realized I heard the film very differently, and I wanted to give him a lot of direction.
But taking a lot of specific notes from me was not what he signed up for...so we agreed not to do this together.
In my defense: we had several logistical problems that made working together problematic—we're in separate cities (I can't easily travel due to small kids at home), and also, I wanted a synth score, meaning Ron needed to hire somebody else just to mock up his pencil-on-paper sketches so I could hear what he was getting at. (I explain more of this at 21:00 of the youtube video.)
Something else I messed up that IS my fault: I took too long to get the final cut to Ron, and he ran short of time before he had to go back to other commitments.
So that's the bad news. And I really do feel very bad about this, not just because I wanted him to score the film, but I fundraised on his name and he very graciously signed many Best of Both Worlds CDs for our donors. (Incidentally, one of Ron's other commitments is this great jazz group: http://www.jazzforest.com—check it out!)
The good news is that I met a terrific young composer in Los Angeles, Bobby Villarreal, who did exactly the synth score I wanted and we're both very happy with it. You can hear bits of it in the youtube video, above. Bobby and I were able to work the way a director and composer really need to on this kind of synth score, where I could go to his studio and we could go through all kinds of synth sounds and audition things on the spot.
Also, very good news—we're all very happy with the quality of the short!
I have to beg everybody's patience that I have to keep a lid on it while we figure out business plans for festivals, distribution—and making the feature film for which the short is a proof of concept. But I promise to keep you all posted.
And I know I owe the donors a soundtrack CD...of a Ron Jones score that now is not going to exist, so we'll probably make a bluray/soundtrack CD combo pack and send that out, which I hope people accept!
(Justin Boggan, I know you are keeping watch of the IMDB credits: I have updated the composer listing there—along with many other credits—and it's in process with the IMDB machinery. Please let the IMDB editors get to it in the next few days so we don't double up on credit fixes.)
