Curious as to why Barry left Searching For Matty off his original
album presentation. It's a great seedy jazz number, one of my favorite cues of the album.

Have been listening to Body Heat in my car for a few days now. Oh, my lord what a tremendously boring score. I am a Barry fanatic, having all his released music. But Body Heat has always been the one I never got around to enjoy. It`s almost a noir parody. Which the film is not! This one is shelved right next to The Golden Child, Jagged Edge and Night Games. Forgettable score, pastiche main title. Snore!

Cue debate!

Same here.

A great theme beaten to death.

It may have worked in the film but the cd should be one cue long.
That's about all I can take.

I don't think there's enough of the theme. I want MORE!!!
That's how much I crave and lust for this score.
Kill For Pussy... indeed! smile

The theme from BODY HEAT is my favorite single movie theme of all time, so I love the second CD's differing performances of that theme. Short of somebody releasing Herrmann's complete OBSESSION, this 2 CD release of BODY HEAT will top my Best CDs of 2012 list.

Finally arrived, my first FSM in many moons. Gracenotes didn't recognise the disc so I had to key in all the info for the ipod (no big deal). And it's another title crossed off my little list, the first this year (& only one last year, The Sand Pebbles), hopefully there will be one or two others before the years end. No posts from Lukas on this thread yet, I think he's had enough of it all already.

Got mine today. Unbelievable. The sound is incredible. Love this score. Just perfect. Thank you FSM.

I really enjoy the demos too. Thanks for including them.

Loving this. Fascinating to find that one of my most-wanted tracks ("Searching for Matty / Agreement [film edit]), since I first saw the film many years ago, was not the music originally intended for that scene.

The alternate version of "She Tries" is really great--love the more subdued quality of it--though the piece used in the film is more fitting for the scene. The melancholy intro that appears on both versions of "She Tries" is mixed pretty low in the film so I hadn't really noticed it before, but it's now one of my favorite "discoveries" on this soundtrack. It's reminiscent of Barry's later work on MIKE'S MURDER.

I also like "3M4," which does not appear in the finished film and which is another form of the theme heard in "She Tries."

Another new addition, which I'm especially fond of is "See Ya / 11M1." Have seen the film many times, but I really hadn't heard and / or appreciated "See Ya," which is heard as Ned drives down to Miami, after his boardwalk meeting with Lowenstein.

If only the great sound quality I heard in the demos applied to the rest of the score/album which is a bit on the muffled side.

Nonetheless, excellent score.

Unfortunately I have to confirm that the sound quality on this set is rather modest (it reminds me of Intrada's THE DEEP score disc, just that BODY HEAT isn't mono). I wonder what happened to the tapes since the old CD release.

Concerning the sound quality of the latest cd, is it THAT much inferior to the sound quality of "Body Heat" on the MOVIOLA cd?

Why should we compare the original soundtrack with the re-recording on the Moviola-CD? When you compare the sound quality of the FSM with the SCSE you'll notice a lack of high end in the FSM.

My copy arrived today - smile - and I'm now playing (via rip to PC ... streamed to Squeezebox Touch ... ) the album version.

2nd track ... sounds great and the 1st track sounded so much more detailed than the SCSE release.

Why? Ripped at WMA Lossless (soon to be converted to FLAC) ... it's the future. And the sound is usually better than the CD*

* in my hi-fi set-up the CD player has only analogue output whereas the SB Touch has digital output and the Amp has a better DAC than the CD player hence the sound is better!

Mitch.

PS: track 8 Surprise sounded brilliant! This album is a revelation compared with the SCSE release.

What abbreviations are you querying?

SB: Squeezebox Touch (Logitech system)
CD: CD player (the means by which most people have played CDs ... smile)
DAC: Digital to Analogue Conversion (the means by which we mere mortals are able to hear the sound from the digital medium)
