Oh, my lord what a tremendously boring score. I am a Barry fanatic, having all his released music. But Body Heat has always been the one I never got around to enjoy. It`s almost a noir parody. Which the film is not! This one is shelved right next to The Golden Child, Jagged Edge and Night Games. Forgettable score, pastiche main title. Snore! Cue debate! Same here. A great theme beaten to death. It may have worked in the film but the cd should be one cue long. That's about all I can take. I don't think there's enough of the theme. I want MORE!!! That's how much I crave and lust for this score. Kill For Pussy... indeed! Gracenotes didn't recognise the disc so I had to key in all the info for the ipod (no big deal). And it's another title crossed off my little list, the first this year (& only one last year, The Sand Pebbles), hopefully there will be one or two others before the years end. Fascinating to find that one of my most-wanted tracks ("Searching for Matty / Agreement [film edit]), since I first saw the film many years ago, was not the music originally intended for that scene. The alternate version of "She Tries" is really great--love the more subdued quality of it--though the piece used in the film is more fitting for the scene. The melancholy intro that appears on both versions of "She Tries" is mixed pretty low in the film so I hadn't really noticed it before, but it's now one of my favorite "discoveries" on this soundtrack. It's reminiscent of Barry's later work on MIKE'S MURDER. I also like "3M4," which does not appear in the finished film and which is another form of the theme heard in "She Tries." Another new addition, which I'm especially fond of is "See Ya / 11M1." Unfortunately I have to confirm that the sound quality on this set is rather modest (it reminds me of Intrada's THE DEEP score disc, just that BODY HEAT isn't mono). My copy arrived today - - and I'm now playing (via rip to PC ... streamed to Squeezebox Touch ... ) the album version. 2nd track ... sounds great and the 1st track sounded so much more detailed than the SCSE release. Ripped at WMA Lossless (soon to be converted to FLAC) ... it's the future. And the sound is usually better than the CD* * in my hi-fi set-up the CD player has only analogue output whereas the SB Touch has digital output and the Amp has a better DAC than the CD player hence the sound is better! Mitch. PS: track 8 Surprise sounded brilliant!
