James Horner (rejected): Why didn't they just track in the Sneakers score, Tarantino-style, and save a bundle? A few pretty flourishes around the edges, but no wonder it was tossed. @ Mr. Jack: the laziness and lack of inspiration is (almost) on a whole new scale for Jamie. Incredible!

@ Mr. Jack: the laziness and lack of inspiration is (almost) on a whole new scale for Jamie. Incredible! Complained about the score on another forum, and someone came back with how "gorgeous" it was, and I couldn't believe it. This is Apollo 13 levels of Lego-brick laziness, and considering Horner wrote it for an adaptation of THE most famous love story ever written, it's doubly disappointing. Indeed! Ironically, Horner pilfered Romeo and Juliet very liberally back in the 80's, including in Star Trek III and Land Before Time (far superior scores to his rejected R&J effort, TBH).

COMMANDO - music by James HORNER @ Advise&Consent: I thought I'd find you lurking about in this thread. Someone asked in another thread if anyone who'd purchased both the 2-CD and 1-CD Obsession from Music Box could chime in on the sound difference (if any), since the 1-CD was purported by the label to have "improved" sound. I'm curious about that too. I think you purchased both? Want to share your two cents in the other thread? Thanks. Sorry to hijack this thread, please continue.

Yes, I did purchase the 1-CD as I usually go. for seconds, and thirds regarding anything AND everything Herrmann. I'd say, very subjectively, that there is a small but notable improvement in terms of clarity and detail. However, the 2-CD set was a fine achievement by Music Box and unless one is very picky, it more than suffices. On other hand, anyone on the fence about either set should do their utmost to snag a copy of either as both score and sound are brilliant. Now that you mention it, I'll compare both later on this evening and get back to you.
