"And I want the rest of you cowboys to know something, there's a new sheriff in town. And his name is Reggie Hammond. So y'all be cool. Right on."
48 Hrs. (Intrada Special Collection) - James Horner (with Songs by The Bus Boys)

"THAT'S IT! Nobody calls me Ed McMahon! Here is my gun. Here is my badge. And here is me... QUITTING!"
Another Stakeout (Intrada Special Collection) - Arthur B. Rubinstein

Hopefully a release of Rubinstein's score for the first film is in the works.

"Don't get maudlin!"

Disc #1 (complete score, minus annoying source cues)

The weird discoloration around the rim of the discs is on my copies, but so far there aren't any playback issues.

"We must have a wawwy! You know...a wawwy! A warge gathewwing of mice for a weason."

My reaction upon my first listen:

The sound is utterly GORGEOUS, wiping the floor with the distant, muffled MCA album, and the extra music fleshes out the score considerably (I'm thrilled to finally have Warren T. Rat's low-down honky-tonk theme, as well as that lilting Irish jig for Honest John's inebriated ramblings at the wake). Sadly, the twenty-second cue for Fievel running away from his Papa while on the boat is not tracked from the later chase scene where he's escaping from Warren's thugs in the sewer. Wonder why Intrada didn't include it, as it would have just barely fit on the CD. Considering the stellar quality of the rest of the music, it's hard to imagine that one cue vanishing.

Anyways, this was a true Grail for me, and it's churlish to grouse about one sub-thirty second cue when the rest of the score has been preserved as lovingly as this. I sincerely hope that Intrada will get around to Fievel Goes West and especially The Land Before Time before too long, as the sonics of those MCA albums were equally as poor as the first Tail, and it'd be a treat to have the unreleased cues from those as well.

With this and Ready Player One, Silvestri had a hell of a year in 2018. Too bad this score was yoked to such an insipid, embarrassing movie.
