Seriously not to be obnoxious though you've kind of warranted it, but like if this box really means everything to you then stop being a dick about it. There are a million ways to go about helping with this other than antagonizing your biggest ally, which MV is whether you realize it or not. Especially when he's been hit by a pretty unspeakable tragedy.

I'm just as obsessive about X-Files--on tonight, yay! I had some concerns that this Fox/Disney thing might cause problems. And seems MV is worried too, and working hard to rush stuff through. I can only assume and hope that X-Files Volume 4 is on the top of that to-do list. So I won't bombard him with desperate and/or disparaging e-mails. I'll probably find a coffee place nearby and phone in a remote order for the office with a note about keeping them caffeinated so they can work on my dream project and remind them it's important to a good many fans. By no means necessary and MV likely doesn't want endless deliveries from strangers (though maybe he does, I can't know that for sure), but you're going to shoot yourself in the foot if you keep on this path. I hope that's becoming obvious as I want you to have your holy grail.

So, MV what's your drink and how many people you got in that office?

Dude, you're a bit late to the party. We (I) have already calmed down and moved on.
Why continue it? And how was I ever a dick about it?

I am sorry you're waiting for your FOURTH volume of X-Files score.
I admire your patience and for not asking about it.

Thanx for reminding me about the show being on tonight though!!! I love it! big grin

LOL, I was just going to say, if there were already THREE 4CD volumes of Buffy score out there, acathla would be chill and probably sit in a comfy crypt with a CD inserted/injected into his arm or brain (however kids are doing drugs these days) and a cup of blood on his lap, while waiting for the next volume.

As annoying as the anticipation might be, especially for the people working on it who get hounded about it very often (I myself asked about the progress on the Buffy set on the Facebook page a couple of months ago), in the end, people like us, don't know know about the jumps and hoops, record labels have to go through to get something released.

I for once am really surprised about how close final approval, CD printing, shipment preparation and release date are to each other (also a testament to how fast labels like La La actually turn this around and make it a reality, soooo impressive), I thought there would be months between that (which is also why I was surprised that the announcement of soundtracks wasn't months in advance like with DVD sets or books).

Anyway, I am super excited for the set and I am so grateful to MV and his team at La La for the hard work they put in and how they deal with the anticipation (his post was very kind).

Well said!
I was too very surprised about how close finalizations and approvals can be to the actual planned release date.
I am used to waiting for several months (maybe even half a year) for an album and it`s release date (music artists and groups that is). And even with some teasers and such along the way to keep the audience warm while waiting.
But I get now that score music is in a different category. And I love MV and Co to the moon and back for actually making this happen (no matter when it`ll be!). They are making one of my biggest dreams for 20 years coming true! And I already know that this will be my most treasured (musical) item. smile

Haha, and yes! I would totally be sitting away/alone somewhere in a crypt or out in a small cabin in the woods if I had 12 CDs worth of Buffy score (man! that must be like 14 hours or something??).
Having it injected into my soul. Sounds amazing, really! haha!

From La La's Facebook!!

Then, hopefully, on January 30, we present to you THE BUFFY THE VAMPIRE COLLECTION featuring music from the famed tv series as well as Carter Burwell's vampire butt kickin' score to the original film! This 4 cd set is sure to drive a stake into your wallet!

big grin

So, part of the four disc set takes up room with the film score? There has to be a Volume 2 and 3 or there's going to be some displeased BtVS score fans. There's such a wealth of material to be had.

Who knows, maybe it's just a few cues? smile

At this point, I just take whatever I can get!
(even Vol 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7 and even 8! haha!)

I'd take a box set of box sets! big grin #takemymoney

Eh, I don't care about the movie and I am fairly confident that I won't really listen to that part of the collection. At the same time, I understand why they would include it and I think it's a really sweet idea (for the Ubernerds who devour all things Buffy, even the movie). And since I don't remember the movie very well, who knows, maybe I will be positively surprised by some of the cues?

However, now that the movie score is included, I do hope it's mostly unreleased material from the show that is on there and not something that has been released before.

Because....I am not holding my breathe for volume 2, even if X-Files and Star Trek got plenty of volumes. (Also, if I am being completely honest, lol, I'd rather root for them to give ANGEL or even DOLLHOUSE the same treatment.) And also, honestly, with all the soundtracks that Lost and Dexter got, more does not exactly mean more memorable or that each soundtrack has the most amazing cues.

I AM EXCITED that they actually included the potential release date in the FB post, especially since MV wasn't sure if they would get it out this early. Just shows again how much work they actually put in to get it out as quickly as possible.

Yeah, I'm hoping for as much as unreleased/unavailable stuff as well.
If they do include the Rounder stuff, maybe it's at least alternative/unedited versions, or something? smile

Dying to see the tracklist!! big grin

Come on, let him be excited. He got the message (and he in fact gave it a rest for a couple of days and didn't post in here between January 4th and January 8th ...lol ).

He was merely discussing the latest Facebook post which had new information on the soundtrack and was expressing his excitement about the soundtrack now being closer to reality with the first announcement. There was no pressuring La La for a tracklist or contacting MV again.

In the end, this is a message board where people can discuss their anticipation and speculate on what will be on the soundtrack before it's out. As long as the anticipation is kept in here rather than in e-mails to the label, it's alright.

I'm sorry but I've read my previous post like ten times now and I still dont understand what the problem I caused in it was? How was that annoying?

Are we not supposed to discuss future releases in this message board?

And if you find that annoying then why do you keep visiting this BUFFY thread?
What do you expect from it?

Remember, I live overseas. It will take more than a week to get rid of me. At least 3 razz

Plus, I will probably want to talk/obsess about how great this miracle release (from heaven/La La Land) is
for decades to come. haha!

And in the worst case scenario, you'll have to wait SIX weeks before inquiring about shipments that weren't received. razz

Haha, I dont even want to think about that possibility!

Nah, I`m pretty sure I will calm down much more once we have more details about it.
Specially the track list and the artwork. Can`t wait to see the picture they include in their announcement.
They always make their CDs look so tasteful and beautiful in their promos.

Once I know all this, then at least I know WHAT I can expect in my post box (be it 3 or 6 weeks).
I will be much more relaxed. I promise!

And in case anyone misread this post...
No this is not a "threat" for LLL to release the announcement NOW to get rid of me! haha! razz

(never in my life have I ever believed that something like a score Cd/box could have so much control over me! lol! Wonder if anyone else is as obsessed about the score music from a certain movie or tv show like me?)

I have been following this topic. Some of us old timers who have been here more than
17 years had superb discussions about BUFFY. Of course we talked about the music, but we also discussed in a lot of detail the various episodes of BUFFY. We felt sort of lost when it ended. Then we went on to analyzing ANGEL. Anyway, I went back into the archives and found a few old discussions we had and thought some of you “newbies” would enjoy reading our insights. There are more in the search engine about the music in Buffy and Angel as well as about episodes.

It's kind of depressing to read you all speculate about spin-offs that never materialized. Honestly, it still does surprise me that so much time has gone by without FOX trying to capitalize on the success of Buffy and trying to keep this universe alive with a new series, because Buffy was a franchise that did make them a lot of money, didn't it?

I guess the rights situation with the Kuzuis was too complicated? However, I always thought Buffy would be kept alive with new shows revolving around new characters, in the same vein that Star Trek survived decades. Though of course by now I've come to accept that it's a dead property* that's specific to the time it was produced in. I'm sure in a few decades there will be a reboot in some form, but there definitely won't be spin-offs in which some of the original actors would guest star in their original roles.

* I know there are the comic books and I've read a couple of them, but honestly, I feel like they're more fan fiction and fan service than anything else. Characters get resurrected the Charmed-way, making their initial deaths pointless, the lack of budget resulted in some pretty dumb things (Buffy and Angel having sex while flying, creating a new universe?, Giles dying and then being resurrected as a teenager?), lack of compelling new characters, the unwillingness to let go of fan favorites (Spike and Buffy are dating, do we really want Buffy to still be hung up on her former lovers?). The comics are definitely not how I envisioned the shows to continue in any shape or form.

The cancellation of Angel is still one of the most painful series cancellations of all time for me, next to Enlightened and Carnivale.
