^ Dude, you're a bit late to the party. We (I) have already calmed down and moved on. Why continue it? And how was I ever a dick about it? I am sorry you're waiting for your FOURTH volume of X-Files score. I admire your patience and for not asking about it. Thanx for reminding me about the show being on tonight though!!! I love it! LOL, I was just going to say, if there were already THREE 4CD volumes of Buffy score out there, acathla would be chill and probably sit in a comfy crypt with a CD inserted/injected into his arm or brain (however kids are doing drugs these days) and a cup of blood on his lap, while waiting for the next volume. As annoying as the anticipation might be, especially for the people working on it who get hounded about it very often (I myself asked about the progress on the Buffy set on the Facebook page a couple of months ago), in the end, people like us, don't know know about the jumps and hoops, record labels have to go through to get something released. I for once am really surprised about how close final approval, CD printing, shipment preparation and release date are to each other (also a testament to how fast labels like La La actually turn this around and make it a reality, soooo impressive), I thought there would be months between that (which is also why I was surprised that the announcement of soundtracks wasn't months in advance like with DVD sets or books). Anyway, I am super excited for the set and I am so grateful to MV and his team at La La for the hard work they put in and how they deal with the anticipation (his post was very kind).

I was too very surprised about how close finalizations and approvals can be to the actual planned release date. I am used to waiting for several months (maybe even half a year) for an album and it`s release date (music artists and groups that is). And even with some teasers and such along the way to keep the audience warm while waiting. But I get now that score music is in a different category. And I love MV and Co to the moon and back for actually making this happen (no matter when it`ll be!). They are making one of my biggest dreams for 20 years coming true! And I already know that this will be my most treasured (musical) item. Haha, and yes! I would totally be sitting away/alone somewhere in a crypt or out in a small cabin in the woods if I had 12 CDs worth of Buffy score (man! that must be like 14 hours or something??). Having it injected into my soul. Sounds amazing, really! haha!

So, part of the four disc set takes up room with the film score? There has to be a Volume 2 and 3 or there's going to be some displeased BtVS score fans. There's such a wealth of material to be had.

Eh, I don't care about the movie and I am fairly confident that I won't really listen to that part of the collection. At the same time, I understand why they would include it and I think it's a really sweet idea (for the Ubernerds who devour all things Buffy, even the movie). And since I don't remember the movie very well, who knows, maybe I will be positively surprised by some of the cues? However, now that the movie score is included, I do hope it's mostly unreleased material from the show that is on there and not something that has been released before. Because....I am not holding my breathe for volume 2, even if X-Files and Star Trek got plenty of volumes. (Also, if I am being completely honest, lol, I'd rather root for them to give ANGEL or even DOLLHOUSE the same treatment.) And also, honestly, with all the soundtracks that Lost and Dexter got, more does not exactly mean more memorable or that each soundtrack has the most amazing cues. I AM EXCITED that they actually included the potential release date in the FB post, especially since MV wasn't sure if they would get it out this early. Just shows again how much work they actually put in to get it out as quickly as possible.

Anyway, I went back into the archives and found a few old discussions we had and thought some of you “newbies” would enjoy reading our insights. There are more in the search engine about the music in Buffy and Angel as well as about episodes. It's kind of depressing to read you all speculate about spin-offs that never materialized. Honestly, it still does surprise me that so much time has gone by without FOX trying to capitalize on the success of Buffy and trying to keep this universe alive with a new series, because Buffy was a franchise that did make them a lot of money, didn't it? I guess the rights situation with the Kuzuis was too complicated? However, I always thought Buffy would be kept alive with new shows revolving around new characters, in the same vein that Star Trek survived decades. Though of course by now I've come to accept that it's a dead property* that's specific to the time it was produced in. I'm sure in a few decades there will be a reboot in some form, but there definitely won't be spin-offs in which some of the original actors would guest star in their original roles. * I know there are the comic books and I've read a couple of them, but honestly, I feel like they're more fan fiction and fan service than anything else. Characters get resurrected the Charmed-way, making their initial deaths pointless, the lack of budget resulted in some pretty dumb things (Buffy and Angel having sex while flying, creating a new universe?, Giles dying and then being resurrected as a teenager?), lack of compelling new characters, the unwillingness to let go of fan favorites (Spike and Buffy are dating, do we really want Buffy to still be hung up on her former lovers?). The comics are definitely not how I envisioned the shows to continue in any shape or form. The cancellation of Angel is still one of the most painful series cancellations of all time for me, next to Enlightened and Carnivale.
