Ennio Morricone's
Exorcist II - The Heretic
Available for Pre-Order Now.

Perseverance Records PRR 042
Will ship the first week of December 2011.
Limited Edition of 3000 units. We are offering this album at the special price of only $12.98.

Perseverance Records is proud to announce the reissue of the soundtrack to Exorcist II: The Heretic. This is the first release from the Perseverance Reissue line as well as our first of many releases from the Warner/Elektra/Atlantic vaults.

Ennio Morricone is among the legends of film music composers. He has sold over fifty million albums worldwide and written music for over 500 movies, television shows and classical recordings over the course of 6 decades. His best known works include five Oscar nominations (as well as a lifetime achievement award) for Days Of Heaven, The Mission, Bugsy, The Untouchables and Malena. We are proud to reissue this album as well as lower the price to a really low $12.98. We here at Perseverance couldn’t be prouder that the first release in our new series is this particular soundtrack. We love the maestro’s work and felt that many people missed out on the Warner France reissue from the early decade.

Release Notes:

· The masters sound really good. Warner handed us remastered tracks for this reissue. I had my mastering engineer Chas Ferry go through and make sure everything was perfect. We are quite happy with the sound and feel you will as well.

· Liner notes by Randall Larson.

· This is a straight reissue using the track listing from the original LP and the Warner France CD. It’s a great representation of the music from the film.

· Priced to sell at $12.98. This is what I keep talking about when I say we will make CDs like this affordable to the film music community. There will only be 3,000 copies manufactured. We will not make any more after we reach that total.

· We used the original artwork and corrected what we felt was a major disappointment with the Warner France release. Many fans noted they did not like the artwork choices for that release. We love the look of the CD as it brings back the original LP’s front and back graphics.

· Please keep this in mind. Our deal for this album lasts for a specific period of years. With the market shifting dramatically to digital it is highly doubtful another label reissues this recording. Grab it while you can.

1. Regan's Theme (Finale) (2:55)
2. Pazuzu (Theme From Exorcist II) (2:50)
3. Interrupted Melody (2:43)
4. Rite Of Magic (2:35)
5. Little Afro-Flemish Mass (4:31)
6. Great Bird Of The Sky (1:33)
7. Magic And Ecstasy (3:01)
8. Seduction And Magic (1:14)
9. Regan's Theme (Floating Sound) (2:05)
10. Dark Revelation (1:19)
11. Night Flight (5:47)
12. Interrupted Melody (Suspended Melody) (2:55)
13. Exorcism (0:58)

Please enjoy. For anybody asking why this is being released the way it is, it’s simple. I want to make sure these kinds of releases get the light of day at reasonable prices. There are many other consumers out there who aren’t avid collectors and simply buy a film score because they saw the movie on TV or heard it someplace. They are the silent minority when it comes to film score sales. We want to provide you and them with a chance to own these releases at a reasonable price versus the crazy sums of money speculators try to charge.

Will buy it again for the cover, hate the first one.

I just turned it over.
doesn't make for a good cover, but at least its less horrible.

for THE WILD BUNCH I use the cover from the WB expaned release.

Universal France also has unappealing cover art.
From the country of Monet and Matisse this is inexcusable!

no "art work problem" with the Warner Fr edition since a good scale original poster is part of the inlay card.

BUT, what the heck, can't resist Pazuzu's new maleficio!

I'm going to have to think about this one.

On the one hand, yeah, it's great music, great price, etc. But... like you said, this might be the last release this score ever gets. And sorry to be that guy, but the fact that this score didn't get the fully-loaded Days of Heaven treatment that it should have gotten... well... no me gusta.

Will buy it again for the cover, hate the first one.

Me too. I'm not even that big a fan of the score, but I like it enough that I don't mind spending this money on an edition with the retro cover I love.

Cheers

If its a straight reissue and same sound as the Warner, you would buy it just for a different cover? Really Woollers?
Im not that keen on the score either, but I don't think I would ever buy a reissue of a score I already have simply for that reason.

Many thanks Robin!

Hated this music when i first heard it back in the early 80´ies. Horrible music in its own sense.

In the announcement, he says "Warner handed us remastered tracks..." so I am assuming this is not the same sound as the earlier CD. But could Perseverance clarify this? I see at least one post assuming it has the same sound as the old CD, as the announcement wording is a bit ambiguous.
I hated the old CD cover too, and just rebought the vinyl a few months ago, partly for the cover, and also didn't like the sound much on the early CD compared to my memories of the LP.

Robin's choice of wording is amusing, but his intentions are sincere.
It'll be great to get other titles like...

THE GAUNTLET - Jerry Fielding
WHO'S AFRAID OF VIRGINIA WOOLF? - Alex North

With proper artwork and a booklet instead of a poster.

I actually used digital photos of my GAUNTLET and EXORCIST II LPs and created custom covers for my iPod.

The Gauntlet needs to be expanded not simply re-released IMHO!
