Thanks for the replies. I have both Pelham and Connection. While I see the connection (couldn't resist), these are not quite in the same bag, though close. Both take on a slightly funky quality in places - especially Pelham - that puts them into more of an early 70s bag.
"longhair" -as in Stravinsky, Bartok, etc.
Imagine if Stravinsky, Schoenberg, and Bartok had a baby with Monk, Ellington and Parker. He grew up to work in an ad agency, had a bunch of angry clients, and was working on multiple deadlines on a caffeine jag with a hangover. That's the sound.
