Alan Silvestri – What Lies Beneath (Original Motion Picture Soundtrack - Deluxe Edition CD) UPC: 888072574021 Release Date: May 3, 2024 Regular price$ 20.00 Expected to ship the week of May 3, 2024. What Lies Beneath (2000) was a first for filmmaker Robert Zemeckis: a serious, adult-minded ghost story starring Michelle Pfeiffer and, in a rare turn (and twist) as the villain, Harrison Ford. Originally developed for Steven Spielberg, the film was a Hitchcockian throwback of slow-burn suspense, with gorgeous Vermont locations supporting the A-list talent. Scoring What Lies Beneath was, as always for Zemeckis, his long-time collaborator, Alan Silvestri (Back to the Future, Forrest Gump). Silvestri conjured up a dark, moody soundscape of suspense, orchestral violence and eerie beauty for the supernatural hauntings and real-life threat that is closer than the heroine realizes—ably recalling the spirit of the classic Hitchcock–Herrmann partnership, with Silvestri’s own vernacular and modern dramatic sense. Varèse Sarabande released What Lies Beneath as a 9-track, 30-minute program at the time of the film. This long-awaited Deluxe Edition premieres the complete score in a 25-track, 60-minute program, with new liner notes by Daniel Schweiger interviewing screenwriter Clark Gregg. Track List: 1. The press release does not indicate who produced, edited, mixed, and mastered this new edition. Hopefully someone in the know can share that information with us here.

Nice. A favorite Silvestri of mine and the artwork remains close in intent to the original contrary to several recent releases. On the other hand, I do wish Varese didn't farm out the liner notes to middling writers.

Michelle Pfeiffer peering into a lake and seeing Amber Valletta tightly holding one of Harrison Ford's ankles Hahaha. Yes. Thankfully they didn't read such a suggestion before releasing the CD.

This release as well as DOOM with only two "pages" of feedbacks here on the forum dont seem to draw a lot of attention and interest.Varese with their expansions of all those 90 ies and 2000 scores ..I dont know..the last Varese I bought must be long ago. I love both composers but neither score does much for me. With the exception of the great end credits cue, What Lies Beneath is quite a bore.

My copy arrived yesterday. The back cover reveals that this is produced by Cary Mansfield and Lukas Kendall, and mastered by Chas Ferry and Melinda Hurley. Doesn't say who did the editing.

So is this have everything from the OST unlike the recent Hellboy II? This looks like a nice expansion given it's about double the length (granted, probably including the source music but who knows given they aren't showing tracks times for some godforsaken reason) Rats. What is. missing from the deluxe Hellboy II? Is is sufficient to justify acquiring the original CD?
