NOBODY DOES IT BETTER THAN LA-LA LAND RECORDS...

RELEASE #2

TOMORROW NEVER DIES: EXPANDED/REMASTERED 25TH ANNIVERSARY LIMITED EDITION
LLLCD 1607
Music by David Arnold
Limited Edition of 5000 Units
RETAIL PRICE: $29.98

ORDERS BEGIN TUESDAY NOVEMBER 29, 2022 AT 12 PM PST

La-La Land Records, Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and Geffen Records proudly present the remastered and expanded 2-CD re-issue of the original motion picture score to the 1997 feature film TOMORROW NEVER DIES, starring Pierce Brosnan as James Bond 007, Michelle Yeoh and Jonathan Pryce, and directed by Roger Spottiswoode. Renowned composer David Arnold (STARGATE, DIE ANOTHER DAY, THE WORLD IS NOT ENOUGH) unleashes a triumphant score -- his acclaimed debut in the James Bond canon. It’s a breathtaking and sophisticated epic work that propels Bond through an exciting globe-spanning adventure teaming with action, dramatic intrigue and romance. Arnold brings a contemporary edge to Bond, expertly melding orchestra with electronics in robust fashion, but he simultaneously preserves and honors the series’ classic musical legacy, often bringing it thrillingly front and center.
Remastered and expanded with a treasure trove of previously unreleased music, this deluxe 2-CD set showcases Arnold’s legendary score as well as the movie’s opening and closing songs, “Tomorrow Never Dies” performed by Sheryl Crow and “Surrender” performed by k.d. lang, along with additional bonus music featuring alternate score cues and the previously unreleased source cues “It Had To Be You” performed by Simon Greenaway and “Adrift” and “Shaken But Not Stirred” performed by Simon Greenway and Sacha Collisson. Also here, a never-before-released alternate opening for “Surrender”! Produced by David Arnold and Neil S. Bulk, and mastered by Doug Schwartz, from original stereo digital tapes provided by MGM, this special release is limited to 5000 units and features exclusive, in-depth liner notes by writer Tim Greiving, which include new comments from the composer. The sharp art design is by Dan Goldwasser.

Before anyone jumps in and says we left out "Cunning Linguist" please be aware that the composer, Beethoven, never composed a work with that title. In the film a licensed recording of his "Piano Concerto No. 5, 2nd Movement" was tracked in. The cue was not recorded for the film.

I hope you all enjoy the album.

I will enjoy this album for sure. This the THE bond score I've been wanting, given the silly way the previous releases were handled, and this? This looks perfect.

Same here! I only ever owned the original release, which was missing the entire third act. The previous expansion came and went during a time before I knew there were specialty labels out there, so I missed out on getting it.

This has got to be the one I've wanted most! Now, here's to hoping 2023 brings GoldenEye!

Back in the day I managed to bag an invite to the first day's recording sessions for this score (I honestly don't remember how, though - I was still at university in '97!?!).
I was really naughty and snuck in a minidisc recorder - still have the disc with a few early takes on there.
I'll definitely be buying this one!

So how do you explain “Fur Elise”?

Damn, but that's one of the snappiest responses I've seen for a while. Well done. smile

@ Neal: With that fine release of "Tomorrow Never Dies" (I won't buy it, the old album is enough for me), can we expect more Bond-scores or was it a uniqueness?

We have collectively shown this response to 10 different people...all incredibly funny, witty filthy minded exceptionally smart and well versed in music males and females and absolutely none of us found anything remotely resembling any form of humor or wit to this response. The Fur referring to pubic hair maybe? That's not even clever or funny and is a faaaaaar reach for a joke. There are certain mechanics for a joke to work none of which apply here if that's the case.

Please, I'm begging you...what makes this response so funny?

For the same reason half the people at a party will laugh at my one liner and others will think I'm an a-hole. We don't all laugh at the same schnitz. I didn't "laugh" but I did find it clever and quick.

Jay Leno would have slayed with it...

I know people, round here, like to analyse music but a joke. Laugh, don't laugh, move on. Time for medication, I think. smile
