I have to nominate (at least) two moments in particular.One is from INDIANA JONES AND THE LAST CRUSADE; it is the part when Indy has to take his step of faith in order to find the Holy Grail. Williams' music was so incredible in that moment. It has stuck with me ever since I saw the film for the first time--now over eleven years ago. I think another has to be the teenager's prayer from JAWS 2. Without Williams' music, that scene would have been absolutely laughable. Instead, it is one of the most dramatically credible in the film (in my estimation). [One can hear so much of Williams' 80's, and especially 90's, style in this cue and many others from the score.] There are a couple of other mentions that I would make, but I have not seen (or seen lately) the respective films that the music cues accompany. This is especially the case for "Imaginary Air Battle" from EMPIRE OF THE SUN. What are your nominations? Dan

Raiders of the Lost Ark.So many great moments, but the one I will choose is when Indy burst out of that tent on horseback and gallops through the camp after the Ark. The music just explodes and gets almost religious in a way. Like Indy is on a very important crusade now. Star Wars. The swelling of the music as Luke races down the trench and Vader zeros in on his X-Wing. Goosebumbs! Return of the Jedi. Luke screams "Never!" and violently attacks Vader. The male chorus and orchestra have a dark and somber tone. Instead of some heroic blast of the Force Theme. But it's sad. Luke has finally given into his anger and now Father and Son fight to the death. Brings a tear to my eye every time. Jaws. The Shark approaches as Quint takes aim while yelling at Hooper. The music builds and builds...well, 'nuff said.

From JAWS: The second part of "Preparing the Cage". The first part is a frenetic fugue. Which makes the second part sound like the musical equivalent of an eye in a hurricane.From LOST IN SPACE: "Morning After". A masterpiece of mystical bleakness. From EARTHQUAKE: "Something for Rosa". A schlockadelic bossa-nova trumpet tune.

THE EMPIRE STRIKES BACK has about a dozen of them - the rebel's retreat at the end of the snow battle, the Millenium Falcon's escape from Hoth, the asteroid field, Yoda raising Luke's ship, the Millenium Falcon drifting away with the garbage, Han Solo being taken into the carbonite freeze chamber, departure of Boba Fett, R2D2 opening the door in Cloud City, the finale... I think this is the most goosebump-intensive score of all.

I agree with the Raider's Map Room and with the Leap of Faith from Last Crusade. Both are fantastic moments. Other favorites: Near the end of Empire when Luke is hanging from the weather vane and Leia "hears him". The beautiful cinematography helps here. The last several minutes of ET. Superman, the whole scene where Lois Lane is hanging from the helicopter. The music really made that scene IMO.

It´s very simple and quick, but the strings in the travelling shot at Roy Scheider´s face after the boy attack in the beginning of JAWS is my favorite Williams moment.

The swelling statement of the Force theme as Luke gazes at the spectacular double sunset in Star Wars is a particular fave.

Hey Danerino! No two ways about it..... The End Title/End Cast from Jaws 2!!!! Without QUESTION his most beautiful composition. It's just a shame he's never performed it in concert.

That's indeed one of his best, Jim.I love "moments". One of my favourites, and probably not too memorable for others but very much so for me, is when Darth Vader is seen inside the Rebel base at Hoth during the ferocious string passage, and the Imperial March starts exactly when the guy in front of him steps to the right so we can see Vader. Probably a moment that's very much tied to the visuals, but it works greatly on its own as well.

You guys may completely attack me for this, but...Being young and naive, I don't have very many Williams memories, but the one that pops into my head first is rather odd. I think one of the most powerful Williams moments is what he did for the teaser trailers of A.I. I mean, this music is going to be simply brilliant, and I was almost moved to tears by that forty-five seconds of practically another world. I swear I was literally succombed in the music I heard......... ....than Pearl Harbor came on Romy
