Now that it has been verified there are 7 unreleased cuts this deserves its own thread.
From Variety Article:
Italian music expert and producer Pierpaolo De Sanctis, who curated the “Morricone Segreto” compilation, noted that although a lot of Morricone music has been reprinted over the past decade, what was missing is the side of the composer that made him seminal for a whole generation of musicians that came after him, and whom he influenced.
“I am talking about electronic music, hip hop, alternative rock,” De Sanctis said. “The idea was to go look at why Morricone today is still considered so hip in music circles that are very far-removed from the world of film soundtracks,” he said.
This is not the Morricone of “Mission” or “Once Upon a Time in America” or “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly,” De Sanctis noted.
Instead, “It’s a Morricone tied to genre movies, to Italian ‘gialli’ and French noirs from the early 1970s and Italian experimental films,” he explained. These films include Italian director Claudio Rispoli’s 1972 “Lui Per Lei,” which was never released but has an “incredible soundtrack that mixes experimentation, psychedelia, alternative rock and lounge,” said De Sanctis.
Among other “Morricone Secreto” tracks is an alternative version of the well-known theme from “The Sicilian Clan,” a successful 1969 Mafia movie by French director Henri Verneuil, starring, among others, Alain Delon. The track in the compilation, titled “Il clan dei siciliani (Tema n. 5)” is “much more acid, modern and rock” version of the theme featuring distorted electric guitar and drums.
The “Morricone Segreto” posthumous album initiative is supported by the Morricone family.

Very interesting. Somehow I missed the first post about it.
How is it related to Music Box?
Music Box was the first to announce it and put it up for sale, so I guess most of us knew about it first from Music Box. I certainly did. At the time it was in their newsletter and on their site for preorder, there was nothing on Amazon. Now, it's available on Amazon too.
But, you're right, it's not a Music Box release.

Looks like a very interesting release (to be issued on CD, 2 LP vinyl and in a colored vinyl 2LP box set with a 45 single). Maybe we can expect a slew of “complete” Morricone scores ahead that contain tracks the Maestro previously refused to be released. I know he had a pristine master tape of For A Few Dollars More. Only time will tell !

Bottom line is whether Andrea and Maria et al will follow some of Ennio's rather baffling stances on certain scores or be keen to see their father's work published.

Perhaps obscure scores like Thrilling (1965) or I due evasi di Sing Sing (1964) but I can't really see what unreleased scores we are talking about?
Maybe the two MACGREGOR western scores from 1966 and 1967.

I suppose it´s the planned CD compilation about which Stéphane Lerouge had already talked in the interview published in the last "Maestro" issue.
"The success of this box led to
the idea of a second volume that I started to
think about during the lockdown. We now
have to complete it without any possibility
to involve the Maestro in the construction of
the program, let alone interview him for the
booklet. Fortunately, I can rely on his
family. In spite of Ennio's passing, I wish
for this new anthology to be conceived as
we intended it to be: together."

My above guess was probably wrong as I see now that this is not a French, but apparently an Italian Decca CD release. And if I have a closer look at the tracks and scores which have been chosen for this compilation it is now obvious to me that all of them are in fact CAM or Sugar titles. Nothing from RCA or General Music - who otherwise own most of the Morricone titles - on this anthology at all.
So is this the much-anticipated first soundtrack co-production of Sugar with UMG/Decca - and with titles from both the CAM and Sugar catalogue - after their new partnership had been announced end of June?

Part of me is excited that a major label like Decca is interested in releaseing from the CAM/sugar catalog.
I mean, imagine what a bigger label could do with greater bargaining power and weight.
On the other hand, though, will a big label master these titles as carefully as a Chris Malone?
And will them moving in on this catalog hurt the speciality labels currently working with that catalog?
