If Beltrami comes back, hope he gets a proper budget for musicians this time. Those gorgeously grandiose orchestral/choir scores for Scream 2 and 3 were performed by 80+ of LA’s finest, recorded at Todd-AO. I know at the time Scream 4 was released he mentioned how difficult it was working on that film with a much lower budget, needing to combine orchestral samples with recording in Bratislava. It’d be fantastic to hear another full-throttle “Scream” Beltrami score with a large orchestra and choir blasting away! We’ll just have to wait and see!
With Wes Craven gone, it's hard to picture these films having his trademark, acidic wit and subversive play with genre tropes. So count me skeptical. But in either case -- yes, Beltrami should obviously be brought back.
How I hate the overuse of the term "reboot" in the media and places like Variety now... Has sequel just become a dirty word or something? More often than not these projects tend to be sequels, it seems to me. (I guess it gets more complicated with something like Halloween which ignores earlier sequels but...)
But nothing re S5 has been confirmed - unless I've missed something... the fact that Tyler scored previous film for the directors doesn't necessarily mean he will do their next one as well... but still... anything but Junkie, Barfe or similar is a good news.

Crazy..just crazy! Unless Marco couldn't or didn't want to do it why wouldn't he be back onboard? He is the musical voice of the SCREAM series and unlike a lot of other horror series, he score all previous parts. If they want it to be a continuation of the same feel of the series he should automatically be back.

I'd take Balfe over Tyler any day of the week.
Balfe can sometimes surprise me. I haven't seen a great score from Tyler in 10 years.

Maybe, but keep in mind that he's spent a lot of time in the franchise world in the last 10 years and he cut his teeth in horror. FRAILTY and DARKNESS FALLS are fantastic scores. I really liked his score for the last movie these directors made, READY OR NOT, which was basically horror.
I agree with Makootli. I'd rather have Balfe than Tyler. But once in a blue moon, Tyler surprises (STANDING UP, YELLOWSTONE, TRANSFORMERS: PRIME). I doubt SCREAM 5 will be such an instance, however. A real shame that Beltrami won't come back for this.

A real dam shame. I wonder why he was not asked or maybe he was not asked, turned it down....
