I was really looking forward to Desplat's music...

Spock would be tempted to use a colorful metaphor.

He, he. I like a lot of Balfe's work, but he's really eating up all the major assignments these days. Ironically, he's as prolific now as Desplat was for a number of years.

I'm fine with that.
Black widow will be just another Marvel superhero sterile action mess not worth of Desplate's talent.
And I think, he also prefers creators like Wes Anderson.

He must be playing his cards better than the rest of his teammates, or else one can wonder why of all RCP composers, present and alumni, only Lorne Balfe gets the call.

Reminds me of John Powell's musings a while ago, where he mentioned the #GetMeLorneBalfe trend in the industry.

I wonder how long he's been off the project. Are they tinkering with the movie now that it's been delayed? Balfe's not exactly going to be able to record at Air Studios any time soon.

Maybe Desplat saw the finished film and left?

Sounds like studio tinkering. Shortland doesn't like loud, action music and once said that James Horner's Avatar ruined the movie. Rumor has it originally Henry Jackman was attached and then Desplat came on board. Now Lorne Balfe. That spells internal conflict.

Ah shit, here we go again. Not that I was interested in movie but Display on board was interesting and unusual choice and now seems that it turns into another generic superhero score with soft thriller atmosphere. Of course it's only my guess and I don't know what the result will be, but now the interest for this movie is low to me.

They may as well just grab a few of those Directors Cuts clapperboard CD's and apply some cut and paste!

There were rumors that Marvel was planning to premiere the movie on VOD. Given this development, they may as well now.

I was really looking forward to Desplat's music...

Nothing against Balfe I enjoyed his contributions to both of Zimmer's Sherlock Holmes scores as well as Megamind. I also didn't mind his Mission: Impossible- Fallout score, but I was really looking forward to a Desplat Marvel score. It would've been a nice change of pace for the genre. I guess he would've wrote something too sophisticated for a Marvel superhero movie/score. So Balfe was a safer choice. Oh well. Some people predicted Desplat would be replaced the moment he signed on, but I didn't want to believe it.

Honestly, none of the three associated with this film (Jackman, Desplat, and Bale) particularly excite me. Of the three, I would have preferred it go to Jackman, as I enjoyed his work on the Captain America scores. Balfe can deliver, and I enjoy some of his scores. Hopefully this will be one of them.

Desplat doesn't get fired.

Desplat walks away.

That's a golden rule.
