I finally got the Camelot cd relatively recently, after enjoying their music in that less than perfect production, and I love that cd. Gave it a listen today after reading this thread earlier. They do like the eastern touch don't they? I hear it mainly in the percussion.

You cant get anymore arrogant and dismissive than that. This is the problem with Hollywood nowadays, composers who don't like films, writers who don't like the genres they're writing for, just a madhouse of mayhem. [/triggeredrant] Well, let me speak up for him a little here. This interview was quite a number of years ago, so it did reflect his thoughts on his feelings even further back when he was younger. He does not go on to really explain any softening in his perspective at that time in that book. But I think you can see that some of this work he has done with his brother has come around to a sound something akin to Jerry and John Williams. I was trying to think of it like kids listening to rock and roll and being sick of hearing the parents play Montovani, just the feeling of rebellion, oddly he grew up at almost the perfect era to appreciate John Williams and Jerry Goldsmith, since he was born in 1958. So he would have been about 18-20 when those guys were composing some of their most legendary and fantastic film scores.
