it is amazing that we allow people who do not know presume to show others the way. This would be funny if it weren't so sad.

Well, Star Wars always gets a headline, so...

Forgive me if this has already been posted on here and I had missed it, but have just come across this article claiming that Star Wars, and in particular, the soundtrack, is racist and that Williams' music reflects long-standing prejudices in American society. I completely agree. I reiterate: it is amazing that we allow people who do not know presume to show others the way.

Forgive me if this has already been posted on here and I had missed it, but have just come across this article claiming that Star Wars, and in particular, the soundtrack, is racist and that Williams' music reflects long-standing prejudices in American society. The article also claims that Jeffrey Chen, who wrote the article says that Williams and people like him (presumably white males) have no place in Hollywood. https://boundingintocomics.com/2020/01/07/washington-post-publishes-article-claiming-star-wars-and-john-williams-score-reproduces-harmful-prejudices-in-pop-culture/ I was really, really dreading the the inevitable creep of Idiot Fad Wokeness into film music analysis. Fortunately, this piece is two weeks old and doesn't seem to have picked up much traction. I do agree with the general point that it is of great importance that minority groups have more representation and creative input in the field of arts and entertainment. In addition to giving them a voice, it creates a better, less stagnant entertainment product. However, the bad-faith, Soviet-style critique of beloved works based solely on ideology will just piss people off.

This article is written by an idiot of epic proportions. There is nothing the author has to say that anybody needs to read/hear. Do not waste your life is dumbassery like this.

Yes, the approach to epic idiocy is to ignore and dismiss the idiocy. If a child tells you they are a pony and will grow up as one, it's idiocy and you don't engage it. It is not the onus of sane people to disprove every bit of shit that some idiot craps out. That's not how a thoughtful society should ever work.

Jeez, now I understand why, after each time I listen to Williams' STAR WARS scores, I am filled with an almost uncontrollable desire to go out and beat up an Asian.

Chris Rock joked back in the 1990's -- when in my opinion he was still funny -- saying: "White Out: A tricky substance that only eliminates black letters!" We're not that far off now from that thinking some people demonstrate...
