Anyone know?

Because (last we heard) they are going to release "season 2" scores on their own four disc set as "The Adventures of Batman & Robin" since the show was rebranded that way. We haven't heard a definite release date, but indications are that it's coming this year...it's been three years since the last Batman TAS release, and the previous volumes had two years in between each...so we are a little overdue. smile

Ok cool. Thanks for the quick and knowledgeable answer, Yavar.

I have been listening to these things all week because I bought all four volumes and they are quite enjoyable.

I also bought the Justice League box. Plan on listening to that soon too.

No problem. I will add one worrying thing we heard recently: LLL said that Warner Bros. has significantly raised their licensing rates, which will apparently curtail a lot of releases that would otherwise have been possible. Now...I know they've had TAoBaR in the works for a while now, so I'm hopeful it won't be affected. But The New Batman Adventures might be, in the future.

On other other hand, these volumes have sold consistently well for LLL so maybe it's a rare thing that can overcome even these higher costs. But I fear this might spell the end of any hope for a final Superman TAS volume to close off that (also superb) music. If you don't have the Superman TAS set yet, make sure you pick it up because it's fantastic orchestral music on the level of Batman TAS.

What Yavar said.

The increased licensing rates may ultimately fall on the customers so, I would imagine LLL and other labels would be doing a cost/balance analysis on the releases. I for one am all ready for any more Superman TAS and The Adventures of Batman and Robin.

Me, too. Heck, I want more "Justice League", but it's not selling well, so...

By the way, barryfan, if you haven't seen "Justice League"/"Justice League Unlimited", you should. It's the same Tim-verse of B: TAS and S: TAS; in fact, the same Batman and Superman (though Batman's design was changed a little).

I never cared for how the Justice League series went all-synth as opposed to the lush, orchestral sound of the previous Batman and Superman shows. Even though a lot of the same talented composers went on to work on JL, it wasn't the same.

Not on the same level with samples, but still enjoyable, though.

I, for one, would rather still get the music, even if I have to pay a little bit more for it than not get it at all. I as well have all 4 B:TAS, the Superman one, and the Justice League one. They are all fantastic. I really hope we get season 2 of B:TAS.

Don't forget Mystery of the Batwoman and The Brave and the Bold - I love them both as well.

I'm still kind of astonished we have as much as we do - but more would be welcome. Just subscribed to DC Universe and have been rewatching the season 2 shows - yep, lots of great music I don't recall.

While we’re not forgetting things, I may as well bring up Shirley’s fantastic score to Mask of the Phantasm, which LLL released complete as well...

A hearty second to this, Yavar. Such a score to treasure. One of my favorite sequences in this best Batman film of all time is where Batman is chased/surrounded by the police and nearly gets gunned done. Masterful scoring. It's a great set piece on its own, but Shirley Walker's contribution makes it riveting and memorable.

I have MOP plus the original 3 volumes of BTAS.
The NEW eps were pretty poor in comparison and never felt a need to purchases the scores.
Maybe I am missing something great, but I am satisfied with the HOURS AND HOURS if great music I have!

When you say "NEW" episodes, are you talking about The New Batman Adventures Bruce? (The ones released on DVD as "Volume 4", with redesigned animation for most characters, perhaps most drastically for The Joker...) Personally, while I wasn't crazy about the new animation style and a few other things, I thought the orchestral scores were still at the same high level of quality, with a lot of interesting stuff to hear.

But next up from LLL will actually be The Adventures of Batman & Robin, which was a direct continuation using the exact same animation styles and everything. I don't think these are what you would consider the "NEW" ones. Aside from the title sequence changing, it was the exact same show.

Jumpin' Jiminy Christmas! I never even noticed all four volumes are all from season 1.

That being said, I just watched the series on bluray the past couple months, and looking over the 20 eps of season 2, and we're not missing huge amazing music from any of those episodes. The Trial maybe? Once I had the soundtracks though, the music for even subpar season 1 episodes on their own were quite impressive.

Yavar,

I guess I was trying to say MOP and LLL volume 1-3 satisfied my TAS musical cravings smile.
As far as the show, the eps with the new style and/or the fantasy elements I.e. Mutant farm critters are poor.

Personal opinion of course, but I actually thought even the music was of a lower quality unfortunately. I enjoy some of the episodes but every single element for me (aside from the stellar, returning main cast) was a step below what came before. And honestly I'm still frustrated that that transition, along with STAS, ushered in an era of style we still haven't really left. I would love a return to the visual style and operatic storytelling of BTAS/Adventures of Batman and Robin.

With all these old TV shows being brought back lately, I would love to have "Justice League" back, with the same composers (this time, mix it up some and bring in some of the other composers Walker entrusted to score episodes of B: TAS, too) and this time use an orchestra.
