Funny, we JUST went through the same this evening... the damn thing was beeping constantly, so I changed the battery - still beeping.

Reconnected the power source and battery, shut down the breaker, disconnected, removed the battery, re-set the thing, hooked it all back up and then flipped the breaker again - still beeping.

Left the unit sitting on a shelf in the garage... still beeping.

Got dressed , drove to Walgreen's for fresh batteries. Also picked up some Reese's Peanut Butter Cup pumpkins, Halloween discounted at 50% off.

Now there's peace and quiet and chocolatey - peanut buttery goodness in the house.

LMAO! Funny story. Thanks for making my day. smile

Of course early this morning when I first heard the beep I thought it was coming from the bedroom. So I took that smoke alarm down and removed the battery. Problem solved until I heard another beep and obviously discovered I disconnected the wrong one.

So it was back to walking around the house trying to find where the sound was coming from. (The hallway as it turns out) There must have been some kind of residual charge left in the alarm. The beeping finally stopped after ten minutes or so.
