He was originally set for Thor: The Dark World before Marvel intervened, Taylor later said Burwell is his favorite living composer and still seems very frustrated with that decision.    Posted:   Nov 2, 2013 - 12:22 PM     By:   Tobias   (Member) That would be interesting if Carter Burwell would end up scoring the next Terminator movie. However if Taylor brings Thor: Dark World composer Brian Tyler with him that too would also be interesting. The first one is the only album I don't really play at all, but Fidel's T2, the Beltrami score, and the Elfman score are all top notch for me. While Edge Of Tomorrow found Beck phoning/droning a score in as per the producers' wishes (as he stated in a film music seminar, he was told to avoid long lines and melody), it is NOT a good example of some of the fine work Beck has done in the years past (most of which has never been released). BUT, as Shaun says, it's a good bet Beck got the Terminator gig BECAUSE of the score he delivered for Edge Of Tomorrow. Having said that, I really like 3-4 tracks from the EOT score and the stuff I don't like worked well enough in the film. Agree about Elfman's Terminator: Salvation. Fiedel's will always be the most memorable, but Elfman's was a terrific modern take in his own style that just suits the world of Terminator so well. There's a lot of emotion in his score and some great action writing. I love the main theme and its many variations. Just out of curiosity, but why is this a good bet? While critically well-received, Edge of Tomorrow didn't exactly set the box office on fire. Better relative performers scored by Beck include Frozen, Percy Jackson, and The Hangover. The man, like John Debney, is a chameleon, able to provide whatever is asked for.
