Very sad news. "The Bob Newhart Show" is my favorite 1970s comedy, and Marcia Wallace was superb in it. Her comic timing was outstanding. RIP.

This would be a perfect chance to mature Bart's character and give Krabappel a good send off, too. She wouldn't even need to speak, if written properly. Bart once again fudges and assignment and doesn't try, all she can do is a facepalm. Next scene: Bart is leavign the classroom late and Millhouse asks what happened, and Krabappel has given Bart a second chance but it better be good or he fails. He blows off the second chance until a few days later Krabappel isn't in class and they are told she's passed. Bart then remembers all the times he's had with her, and how she consuled him that one time he really, really tried early on in the show. He decides to actually do his assignment, do it the best he can, for her. And since shows like this like to parody other shows and movies, Bart can pull getting on his desk and saying, "Teacher, my teacher!" and read it. Long after class has ended and everybody has left, he'll still be sitting on the desk, contemplating, much like Homer on the back of his car after his mother left in her first appearence. The same score cue can be played, since it's sad anyway, so it can be a "like father, like son" moment. The score cue: www.youtube.com/watch?v=phE8HifoQ-8
