I thought this news might interest a few people here. On December 4th Universal Japan will be reissuing the soundtracks to both Airport and Airport 1975 as part of their "999 Best & More" series. Like the other releases in this series, they will be straight reissues of the previous CDs/LPs, but at the current exchange rate they're also less than $10 each before shipping, which sounds like a pretty good deal to me.
Even if so, you'd be doing yourself a disservice not to pick up these two excellent scores in the meantime, especially at that price.
This is true!
These films seemed to have better luck in Japan in regards to releases. They issued the only CD of Airport 1975, as well as a Laserdisc box set of all 4 movies back in 1999. It was the first time both Airport and Airport '77 were available in widescreen (though '79 was strangely just pan and scan).
I seem to remember LaLaLand saying they were interested in releasing these scores. Fingers crossed.
If one of the USA cd labels is planning any Airport cd(s) then maybe they should let us know. That way we won't buy the Japan cd and will wait for the USA one by them, so the USA producers won't loose any future sales on their version.

I ordered mine and got an email saying that they will be released in Japan on the 4th of December and it may take 3-4 weeks for mine to arrive.Depending on how you decide to ship, and they give you quite a few chocies, will depend how soon. However,it is my understanding it is released in Japan on the 4th.Hope this helps!
The LP content of the terrific Lalo Schifrin score for "Rollercoaster" is also apparently coming out from Japan MCA with the original artwork (cover, at least).
I wish we could get the OST of Airport. I think that's the only performance of the main title on tape that doesn't have members of the orchestra pursuing two or three different beats at once in the final thirty seconds of it. Morton Gould's try comes close, but unfortunately it was recorded inside of an echo chamber so it's hard to tell.
Japan companies (Universal especially) do lately a lot of limited short pressings, but they are repeating them every few years if it's demand out there.
Just by way of information for interested parties, I was informed today by email from CD Japan, that my copy of Airport 1975 has been shipped, so copies are apparently on their way now. Who knows, it may even arrive in time for Christmas.
