There have been no blog entries on their site since July 2012.

With no more FSM, no sign of Tribute, the Varese Club hiding, Tadlow going silent, and Counterpoint vanishing, that's quite a chunk of classic film score possibilities disappearing in a short space of time.

That's a lot of stuff for Kritzerland to make up for.

The same thought went through my mind the other day as I was going through my CD collection.

Still, Tribute and Tadlow have given us some incredible re-recordings.

It's just pining for the fjords . . .

I sure hope not, but a good year plus of quiet time makes me wonder, too.

I recently picked up FAHRENHEIT 451, a great recording that had slipped by me longer than it should have, and I love ADVENTURES OF DON JUAN, a favorite of mine, coupled with ARSENIC. And while not a Tribute, I will forever be grateful to Morgan & Stromberg for their great Roy Webb recording, one of many underrepresented, even, sadly, underappreciated composers whose music they've championed.

Officially? I'm sure they would never officially announce "That's it, we're done." They'd love to continue.

But it's pretty clear that, barring some miraculous influx of money, it's not something they can keep financing. I'm not saying anything that Morgan and Stromberg haven't said themselves.

It was while I was listening to that superb recording that I posted my original question.

It's sad the Moscow musicians have reached that level of excellence in film score performance, only to end up (probably) doing endless performances of familiar Tchaikovsky pieces that they could play blindfold.

Good point, as the Korngold, Steiner & Herrmann recordings amply demonstrate.

Basil, I too have thought of what you said. I have all the Morgan/Stromberg cds from Marco Polo, Naxos and Tribute. They are all amazing and I often go back and play them. John Morgan seems to say the costs are getting higher and higher to do them. I'm sure he would love to do some more if he could. Maybe he can update us.

Let's hope Kritzerland, LLL, Intrada and the Varese Club will issue some golden age cds soon and in 2014.

I heard that Emblem 3's debut album made it to #7 on the charts and they are now the opening act for Selena Gomez. They might aid their dad in his enterprises in the near future, with their pocket change.

I was listening to some Tadlow releases myself a few days ago ('Private Life of Sherlock Holmes' and 'Notre Dame de Paris', to be precise) and I was thinking the same thing. I hope we get more releases at some stage, but grateful for what is there. I'd love to get more Jarre recordings from Tadlow especially.

The credit crunch, gents.

I'd say that's streamlining the clientelle. But it'll pass.
