Disc One did not play at all in my Bose system. The same thing happened on Battlestar Vol 3 last summer. I wonder what plant Intrada uses? This kind of stuff happens a lot with them. HOWEVER, the customer service there is NUMBER 1. So no problems in the long run.

As for what I did hear, I am really appreciating the mastering jobs that occur on these releases. The way 'SALEM'S LOT sounds it's like it's like the orchestra is right in front of me. Truly beautiful sound.

-Rick O.

Thanks Rick, my copy will be delivered tomorrow. Fingers crossed!

Pinch me...

Yes... one of my favorite TV scores of all time has finally been released. I know I am not alone.
Ordered late last week... arrived yesterday. Putting in the player later today (after my second listen to all things OMEN)...

Texted a close friend... "The Glick boys are thirsty"

Response... "Thanks... just creeped me out and closed the curtains."

smile I am so mean.

This arrived in the UK the other day, along with Buck Rogers.

I'm utterly stunned by this presentation of the Salem's Lot score, which in my opinion is a horror music masterpiece. Such creepy diversity. I'm also hearing knew things in this pristine sounding version. Synths I never even knew where there! It's all great, but I find myself particularly drawn to the first half of Disc 2 at the moment.

So glad the jazzy source cues got in there too!

Thank-you Intrada for a genuine Holy Grail delivered.

Yeah, this is a masterpiece. So many themes and motifs. A throwback to older scores, and yet.... Not. I love the achingly painful sounding theme in " the House". Sukman really captures the tragic feel of the plague on Salem's Lot.

This is getting heavy rotation from me.

Have to concur with the previous posters. One of the great TV miniseries scores. Curiously the score somewhat reminds me of one of Henry Mancini's darker efforts like Nightwing or Lifeforce. Lots of dark and creepy melodies weaving in and out.
There also would have been a great LP to be had here back in the day. Intrada spoils us yet again.

I always take what I hear abput holy grails on this board, seriously. Sometimes disappointed by ones never heard before. Salems Lot is amazing. Very very good.

Spun it twice so far, couldn't be more happier with the sound quality and program. To hear it in this pristine quality and pick up on instruments and sounds I hadn't before, is just so cool. "Ralph is floating" is amazing to hear as is all the sinister Straker material on the first disc, as well as the Barlow cues on disc 2. The alternates are great to have and especially the feature version of the 'main title' and 'end title' are amazing. I would have preferred the source music to be placed at the end of disc one, the Vivaldi actually works well within the program of disc two. Will definitely make a playlist of the highlights but will be difficult to leave stuff out smile

Got mine today, with BUCK and FITZWILLY (a surprise) - and am enjoying listening to this; the sound is amazing! I am sad that the case was totally destroyed (discs were fine, and yes I had disc 1 & 2 - BUCK case was smashed too [again, the discs were fine], and both were nicely packed in a box with snow and everything; FITZ came in an envelope from France and was fine - don't know what that US Postal machine does to Intrada packages, but it certainly doesn't seem to like 'em, of all the cds I buy mail order, it's always Intrada that comes damagedfrown); I had to dig around but found a replacement (harder to replace 3 disc case than a 2 or single, that is for sure!).

In my opinion one of Intrada's greatest releases...a powerful, evocative score complete and in stereo as it had never been heard before! It's a definite must-listen at this time of year for me, but I find myself enjoying moments of this release throughout the year. Thanks so much Intrada for putting in the work and releasing a first rate product, it was a dream come true for fans of this score...I still have to pinch myself when I hold it in my hands! smile

I expect the Blu-ray will be released before too long, as it was on Warner's list over at the hometheaterforum. I'd buy it in a heartbeat.

Love the Intrada release.

For me, it always gets an annual spin on Halloween!

I'll watch the el cheapo Blu-ray ($7.99) I got this past summer, which replaces my defective WB $1.99 "Big Lots" copy I've had for ten years.

I'm not a Halloween person, but Salem's Lot's 1979-ness has always been a hit with me, and I watch it a couple times a year.
