Sorry, Dan, but I think it is time for Maurice Jarre.

if its the Gregory one im thinking of - during a Jarre period of mine - i once saw this L.p in the rack at thats entertainment in drury lane
it was a rather rare score, typically johnny yap prices it waz about £35 - a lot in 1982!
So i had a coffee, listened to the score on their record player - and decided against it!

A risky (brave ?) move from Columbia at that time. In retaliation spanish dictatorship had banned for a few years the following releases from that studio in Spain.

The novel is by Emeric Pressburger (his only novel) and is worth reading because the movie script doesn't pay tribute to its clever narration : different points of view on a same "event".

mark i thought it was great. Despite the ambiguous peck pic it waz recognisable as him, and the other two stars gave me the answer. Your clue confirmed it so i could ramble on with my boring L.P story with impunity.

Not boring at all. I have a lot of good memories myself of "striking gold" in used shops. smile

i dont know wot jarre fanatics thought of the score, but i found it a little flat and a bit dull compared to generals, paris burning, the train, professionals, villa rides, red sun and other jarre i was collecting at the time.
