Outside of, say, Helen of Troy herself, is there a more persistent romantic myth in (unprovable?) posterity than whether or not the above actually existed?

Then again, 'they' never thought Troy ever was real, too.

What sayest thou?

Atlantis definitely exists, I had a lay-over there once at the Hartsfield-Jackson airport.

It was raining quite heavily at the time so not surprised it sunk subsequent to my visit.

Does it matter?

You've got Atlantis on the one hand and Pompeii on the other. Both cautionary tales with inescapable conclusions.

I have been to Atlantis..........Casino in Atlantic City in the 1980's. It's long gone now. After it went belly up, Trump bought the place and then took the wrecking ball to it after it failed to make a profit. It's now an empty paved lot.

I've always liked to think that Atlantis did exist.
I'm not exactly a Bible "scholar", but I have spent thirty years studying it, and the civilizations that existed on the planet during the flood of Noah were all buried underwater.
The fossilized remains of seashells that have been found at the top of Mt. Everest indicate (along with tons of other evidence) the worldwide deluge was a reality.
So, I'm open to the idea...

Don't....go there....it indicates no such thing and you're well aware of that....

Atlantis? Who knows...I'm going to suggest that it's real, but like many other things it's history, provenance etc etc has got so bastardised over the centuries that what we understand to be Atlantis is probably a small field just south of Bristol.

I thought somebody had found it on Google Earth... it's near Gibraltar now, or somewhere.

That could make Timmer the man from Atlantis.

I really like the Disney Atlantis Lost Empire from a while back.
(not the sequel) It is a pretty good film with great animation and a good JNH score.

Of course Atlantis exists ! .......well, at least for the next 12 weeks.....Every Saturday night on BBC1.

Pure hokum, but good fun.

Having enjoyed the first episode, methinks that the Gods will smile favourably upon it !

Oh, I think it will be quite sometime before our heros are fleeing the volcano, M .
There are a whole lot of Greek myths to get through first.

For example, this week, Jason was sorting out that pesky Minotaur.....Yes, I know it was Theseus....and in Crete, but the producers here have said "What the Hell! Nobody will know the difference. {Ahem!) Let Jason do it all !".

Purists should watch another channel !

By the way, to borrow a blurb from Alfred Hitchcock...... "Tell the ending if you must, but please, don't reveal the beginning" big grin
