I think I remember that the long sought after release of Bernard Herrmann's stirring score for THE BIRDS was met, when it finally appeared, with utter disinterest by the soundtrack community. Go figure! Even with that extra disc of various jazz artists' impressions of the magnificent "Theme From The Birds," the whole thing landed with a thud. I almost bought one, but that was the same week a remastered version of The Trashmen's epic "Surfin' Bird" album was released, and the money only goes so far...
