I've been trying to get more information on this all my life. Having seen this on TV, everything I could gather since has shown this to be IT, the greatest assemblage of everyone who was in film music in America all at one time. Other impressive concerts have tried to approach it but nothing really has touched it. Everyone showed up or was at least in the audience. Even youngsters like Jerrald Goldsmith and Johnny Williams were included in a TV medley.

Somehow my hero, Jon Burlingame, has unearthed a ton of info and put it in the upcoming issue of the Film Music Society magazine, THE CUE SHEET. Just look at the some of this stuff in a scaled down online preview! The rundown and pictures (color!) are terrific! I am a member and really look forward to this!

Thanks, Jon!

Thomas Cassidy, the announcer, as Burlingame points out, who introduced the Film Fantasy sequence, died November 5 last year at the age of 95.

The Columbia LP released of "Music from Hollywood" (partial) was for years a soughtafter soundtrack collectible.

It was also the only recording of the complete HOW THE WEST WAS WON Prelude available at the time.
