I always lower my "sound standards" when the score is so worthy of being heard, as THE MIRACLE and TRUE GRIT are. If the sound is great, then that will be wonderful. If the sound is not quite great but still listenable, then that will also be wonderful. Either way, these are most welcome releases.
Hm, wonder if "The Miracle" will also have the song that Bernstein wrote for it included. Hopefully so, as it's a beautiful tune sung by Carroll Baker (?)
there are several vocal montaes of the singers career in the film. I do NOT thnk it is Carroll baker. A freind of mine is a freind of Miss Baker and has promised to contact her, to see if she remembers who sang these vocals.

Hmmm...it seems to me you're excluding quite a bit of film music history if your "standards" are too stringent.
Are you the same about movies? Can't watch anything done before digital, perhaps?
Well as an example of music I can't enjoy I would use a number of those scores released from acetates by Screenarchives. I've tried to listen to them but the sound is just lacking in a significant way, like for example Cyrano by Tiomkin. I've heard some really good sounding mono releases from Kritzerland and Intrada in the past but you never know with any given release. That is why we have samples.

A year and a half. Not so soon. And I'm sure that either sales have trickled to near-zero, or they're at the end of a run and it's not worth repressing, or they're at the end of their negotiated window, or some combination of these. We're not privy to this.

I agree - some titles gone OOP in 2-4 months! 1.5 year is really enough for everyone who wanted this great score.
Just shows you Intrada's system to keep titles in print until the interest wains is working. The 24 hour frenzy is gone. I picked up the Miracle when it was first released. Elmer recorded it for his FMC label so I know he thought it was important to be released. Chris
