Not exactly. 5 scores (actually more, because one was the Preminger set) on CD, all by different composers, purchased without ever having seen the films, and because they were composed by the composer.

Five different composers - OK, not that bad!...

I will take the survey latter, but I buy what I like, by the composers I like and if I liked the movie. I am not a person that feels the need to upgrade if I feel the score was well represented on a previous release. I do not have to have every single minute of music recorded for the movie. I do not need to hear 8 different takes on one cue, with choir, without choir, with mixing bowls, without mixing bowls, with coughs, instruments hitting music stands, chairs moving on the floor, composer talking, etc. Give me a good presentation of the score as it was used in the movie. Remastering is a term that can change the sound of a recording, but most scores that have been remastered that I have heard, there is not enough difference to make me purchase a re-release.

For me it's mostly being familiar with the score from the movie and wanting to hear it outside of the movie in a C&C fashion and with best sound quality. I also like the bonus stuff like alternates, demos, film edits or versions... and appreciate when leftover time on a disc is filled by them.

The composer plays a big role as well, as I find he or she is consistently good I will get their scores prior to seeing the movies (especially when those are hard to track down).

The label also plays a big part for me and to lesser extent the limited availability in some cases.

I've just posted mine, hope this helps when will we get the results?

Yes, results will probably be posted sometime in late October. It is important that everyone in this community has the opportunity to view the result information.

Thank you for your interest.

It is great to learn of everyone's responses. Yes, you can certainly take this survey at a later date, as it will be open for two more weeks.

The survey seemed fine in general. One small constructive criticism, if I may: The question "Did you buy the soundtrack before or after you saw the film?" presumes that the surveyee at some point actually saw the film -- sort of like "Have you stopped beating your wife?" In a couple of cases I was forced to put "before I saw the film" when in fact the likelihood of me actually seeing the film (for various reasons) may be small or nonexistent. I think you will have to throw out any conclusions which you base on the answer to that question, since there was in effect no accurate answer possible in some cases.
