The phony look here, with hair and coverlet seemingly "pasted on," reminds me that a similar poster once graced the gigantic wrap-around billboard over the DeMille Theatre on Times Square. That one initially featured Ms. Fonda's bare bottom, until the public complaints dictated a CLEOPATRA-style makeover.
LA RONDE, of course, received a vastly superior screen adaptation in 1950, directed by Max Ophuls and starring Anton Walbrook.
