I thought I'd start a companion series to Mastadge's best/favorite films threads that cover 1983 onwards. Mine looks at the years preceding those. Please add your thoughts.
1971 was an astonishing year for Morricone - I believe 23 films scored that year, of which I've only seen two, Sacco and Vanzetti and of course A Fistful of Dynamite. Both very good films. I might have seen a third (Cat of Nine Tails) but I'm not sure as one giallo tends to blend into another for me.
to mark r y- I like your choices, I thought DESPARATE CHARACTERS was a fine underrated film. THE HOSPITAL was a great film with a wonderful performance by GEORGE C SCOTT, a speech that said a lot at the end and still very topical today.MACBETH was a film that has been pretty obscure over the years, saw it in my English film class back in high school in which my teacher said during graduation, in this field I am the most likely to succeed.
