As Bruce has mentioned that Varese still holds the rights to this amazing Goldsmith score, really hoping for a definitive release from them to tie-in with the Twilight Time bluray. There will be an iso score track on the bluray, but it would be nice to get this one out on disc with perhaps some new and insightful liner notes. Anybody got a scoop? smile

Varese is only interested in releasing scores for current films these days. That, and organizing film music concerts.

Do you have inside information that this is indeed a directive within the Varese Sarabande company, or are you just stating your opinion as fact? Do tell...

They've ALWAYS been interested in releasing scores for current films. I don't know who posted the gem quoted above but as it's someone on my ignore list it's probably just as well.

Amazing how there's zero buzz for this bluray. I can't find a single review yet online and it doesn't seem to be on anyone's radar around here....weird.

Just watched the Twilight Time release of "The Other" and it is a gorgeous transfer.

I also listened to the isolated track of Jerry Goldsmith's music score. It was a shock for me to hear all the Goldsmith music that was not used in the film. If all this great music was reinstated in the film, it would be a better film then as released. The missing music is absolutely gorgeous, a real shame! Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One of our film music labels needs to release the complete score with all the missing music.

I'm confused... So the iso track is not the score as it appears in the film?!?? I love that there's extra music on the track! Does that mean you can watch the film and select to only hear Goldsmith's score, and unused cues can for the first time be heard as they were originally written for the film?

I gratefully received this bluray for Christmas smile

Subtle, excellent ghost story/psychological horror movie - and approx 41 minutes of music on the isolated score track - including a handful of source cues. (almost doubling the running time of the Varese CD).

So in "Other" words a must have Blu Ray, if only they weren't this expensive!

Hi Jacky

The Varese CD also contains the score for THE MEPHISTO WALTZ.

THE OTHER, as represented in a suite on that CD, runs a little over 22 mins
