U.S. distributors Inception Media Group are planning to release on Blu-ray director Bryan Forbes' The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella (1976), starring Richard Chamberlain, Gemma Craven, Margaret Lockwood, Michael Hordern, and Kenneth More. The release will be available for purchase online and in stores across the nation on November 19th.

Beautifully restored in high definition, The Slipper and the Rose: The Story of Cinderella is a grand musical adventure in the tradition of The Sound of Music and My Fair Lady. This lavish production features Richard Chamberlain in a spirited re-telling of the classic Cinderella fairy tale, and the Academy Award nominated score is provided by the Oscar winning song writing duo the Sherman Brothers (Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang).

I saw that on Youtube -- it was actually very well done. And the music by Angela Morley is lush. For some reason she's incorrectly credited on IMDb as not being credited, but she is right in the opening credits; I submitted the correction, but it appears IMDb ignored it.

This film and THE HAPPIEST MILLIONAIRE are my favorites from the SHERMAN BROTHERS. Great full blooded scores with great diverse melodies, SECRET KINGDOM, APEX of loveliness.
