I liked Brandon Routh as Superman/Clark Kent, however. It was the Lois Lane I didn't much care for (they cast Supes to look like the cartoon character. In this film, Lois looks nothing like she should). Perhaps it's my diminished familiarity with / concern for DC characters relative to Marvel, but I don't really get too hung up on the "look" of Lois Lane; the character has looked so different in her different incarnations over the decades that I don't really consider her to have a definite visual template the way Superman / Clark Kent / Kal-El does. Moreover, while I get that nailing the look of a comics character is often a big deal, there's a part of me that still thinks something more substantial than just someone's looks ought to be some sort of consideration in casting roles for movies. Crazy, I know... Anyway, as I like Amy Adams, she's frankly the major reason I'd want to see Man of Steel at all, though so far she hasn't been enough of a draw to get me to see it - there's just too much else about the movie I won't care for, judging from the previews and what I've read and so forth. I'll probably see it anyway, but only once it gets to the local discount second-run theater. I did enjoy Superman Returns, though.
