While a respectable dramatic effort, my biggest gripe with this one, as with the majority of scores for period dramas written these days, is that they're not the least bit idiomatic.
The events covered in this mini-series occurred 157 years ago in Denmark. But you wouldn't know that from listening to this.
... and you don't necessarily need to, as neither the time period nor the place need to be expressed by the music in order for it to work in a specific film. It's a decision, that may or may not please. That's how you like your period drama film music though, and that's perfectly fine.
