I just finished reading Daniel Schweiger's liner notes for Clean Slate/Perez Family and at the very end, where is some information about the author, one can see the following: "His liner notes have included Alan Silvestri's Eraser, Mac and Me, and Overboard".

As far as I can remember, there has never been a Silvestri's Mac and Me CD (the song album doesn't count)... so I can only presume that some of our beloved labels in working on a release that should see the light of day very soon!

I wasn't sure if "Mac" was a dog or a chimpanzee. So I looked it up on IMDB, and wish I didn't!
I know nothing about the score. How would you describe it?

If you want to laugh your butt off, find this atrocity. One of the worst movies I've ever seen.
The music is its only positive point.

Well that YouTube clip is certainly fantastic. smile The first half sort of has a Joe Hisaishi feel to it. (Which is a good thing)

Wish it got a release! I love Silvestri from this period -- both the synth stuff and the orchestral scores.

Folks, may I tell you a little story about that song album put out in the 80s. Footlights was a fine place in New York to buy soundtracks from the 70's till the early years of this century when it closed it's street store. But Footlights was not cheap.Yes, quality[good condition albums used and of course sealed]and quantity. The place to go for the rare ones. However bargains were not really there biz.Unlike other stores in New York with soundtracks.MAC AND ME lp had 2 distinctive things about it in relation to Footlights, It was one of the very few sealed lp soundtracks that you could get at that store for under $ 5.00 from 1980 and up and it was one of the longest soundtrack lp's to not be sold at that store. The same copy laid in Footlights for years and years. Then somebody pick it up when the store was closing when they had great discounts.A little bit of soundtrack nostalgic there.

Got my own Footlights story. Back in the early 90's I came across that boot of Young Gins 2/mac and Me. Next to the lp of Barry's King Kong it was my greatest treasure found at that place. I knew what Guns was like but had no idea what Mac was and wow was I surprised by it. Would love a complete of this ET rip off. On a side note my trips from LI on the train to Manhattan and searching through Footlights many treasures was the highpoint of my hobby growing up. Miss that place.

The clip was great. If the rest of the score is anything like that I'm definitely interested and will gladly purchase a copy if released.
