Charles Dance played Ian Fleming in the TV Drama GOLDENEYE, released in 1990. The film was quite good, and was filmed at the actual Goldeneye in Jamaica. Does anyone else remember this one?
The score was by (now Lord) Michael Berkeley, and the main theme is outstanding. Very catchy. As far as I know there was never any recording of this released - official og "unmentionable".
Does anyone else have the same appreciation of this and/or info about where to get this very good piece of music.
I'm afraid I've never heard of the film or the composer, but it could be interesting. Have you checked Youtube for clips?
Michael Berkeley is one of the leading contemporary British classical composers, the son of Sir Lennox Berkeley. There's a CD series on Chandos that unites works by both.

I have the TV film Goldeneye ... aka Golden Eye ... on a Daily Mail freebie DVD. I don't think I've watched it but do wonder if I saw the original TV showing. Given it's JB007 related I probably did watch it but there is a similar TV film called The Secret Life of Ian Fleming with which I may be confusing it.
Viewing IMDb I see that way down the cast list is a certain Deborah Moore keeping the JB007 connection and, of course, Charles Dance appeared in For Your Eyes Only (whilst Jason Connery was the star of the other mentioned film).
It's a small (film) world.
I'll keep this DVD out to watch one day before too long.

The Secret Life of Ian Fleming, I think it was the one with a score by Carl Davis. I vaguely remember the score and I thought it was quite good, at least back then when I watched it.

Glad you got a copy of Goldeneye so easily/cheaply ... I think I saw something about eBay and Nectar points but haven't delved further.
As for production dates, according to IMDb, Goldeneye is 1989 and The Secret Life of Ian Fleming is 1990. The newer production you may be recalling is Ian Fleming: Where Bond Began (2008) in which Jonathan Pryce played the author.
