Featuring the original recording of the themes and incidental music for Gerry Anderson's Supercar. The bold and heroic music composed by Barry Gray for Supercar, set the template for all the puppet series which followed, with a particular foreshadowing to Gray's iconic music for Thunderbirds. This release expands upon the material featured in Fanderson's very first soundtrack release, the combined Supercar and Fireball XL5 album from 1998, contains many never before released pieces of music and some previously commerercially available tracks.

Includes the opening themes to both series of Supercar, instrumental versions and episodic suites including Amazonian Adventure, Calling Charlie Queen, The Day That Time Stood Still, Hi-Jack, Jail Break, King Cool, Operation Super Stork, Precious Cargo, Rescue, The Runaway Train, Space for Mitch, The Talisman of Sargon and What Goes Up.

The album includes a 20-page colour booklet full of track notes and details of recording session dates and musicians. Approximate running time 88 minutes

SCHEDULED TO BE RELEASED ON THE 20TH AUGUST 2013 - Pre-orders will be dispatched strictly in the order in which they are received.

***** IMPORTANT: FANDERSON SALES ITEMS ARE AVAILABLE TO FANDERSON MEMBERS ONLY. *****

They're not kidding about that last bit; Fanderson does NOT like it when people buy their product only to turn around and sell it on eBay for a high price. You can't blame them, really.

So I have to spend $66 dollars for the privilege of buying one of their CD's?

I think this silly Club also still blocks a release of U.F.O. !!

So it would seem.

I bought a membership a couple of years ago largely to buy a couple of their CDs. I think the cost just about worked out, though I should have bought Terrahawks too.
If you are going to join to buy merchandise (esp CDs), just buy one of everything.

Firstly I am not a member of this 'Silly Club'

I do not wish to join Fanderson just to buy Barry Gray's music - however If not for the outstanding research and restoration work done by this 'Silly Club' I doubt if any of the 'Anderson' music, that isn't restricted by club membership, would be available to anyone.

So congratulations to Fanderson for yet again producing another pioneering release. May they sell by the bucket load.

Please please please occasionally let us non members have more music - no strings attached.

Regards

CC

How about second tier membership fees for those only interested in the music?

How about letting us buy the CD's without extortion? So ppl will get it other ways for free. Brilliant thinking on their part!

It's the terms of their licence with ITV Studios (and the various predecessors, such as ITC, Polygram, Carlton, Granada Ventures etc) that dictates what they can and cannot do. They enjoy privileged terms and in return for that (and not paying hefty licencing fees), ITV allow them to produce CDs like this but stipulate that they can only be sold to members.

As for the claim made by someone above that Fanderson 'block' commercial releases (eg UFO), I'm fairly sure that is untrue - part of the reason for limiting selling their releases to members only is so that eventual commercial releases aren't also stifled. Hence why a number of Barry Gray scores (and the Derek Wadsworth Space: 1999 score) have been put out by Silva Screen. I suppose there may be a period of grace to allow Fanderson to sell their (far more complete releases) to their members, but that's about it.

As I understand it, Silva had/have no plans for any further Anderson tv scores (unless there was some sort of revival of interest, such as if the proposed UFO film ever gets off the ground, or if Thunderbirds gets remade, etc). Perhaps contacting Silva and clarifying this may be the way forward. Blaming Fanderson for such releases 'not coming out' is a bit unfair, I would guess.

At least they finally updated their membership procedure to accept credit cards. For years, you had to snail mail checks or an International Money Order. That kept me from joining, but thankfully some kindhearted members ordered CDs for me before they sold out.

Does that mean that the Silva "Thunderbirds" and "Space 1999" contain less than the Fanderson releases?!

There is no CD released by Fanderson for Thunderbirds. And for Space 1999, the Fanderson release is a double CD. Same for Space 1999 Year 2.

Very happy for this new Supercar CD. smile

Update.

The disc offers great value for money for all Anderson fans, with a total running time of nearly 80 minutes and a 20-page colour booklet containing detailed track notes of listing musicians, original recording session dates and alternative track versions.

As has become traditional with Fanderson soundtrack releases, the music is arranged in episodic suites:

¦Amazonian Adventure
¦Calling Charie Queen
¦The Day That Time Stood Still
¦Hi-Jack
¦Jail Break
¦King Cool
¦Operation Super Stork
¦Precious Cargo
¦Rescue
¦The Runaway Train
¦Space For Mitch
¦The Talisman of Sargon
¦What Goes Up

The sleeve notes also contain the full lyrics to all the songs that were recorded for the series, including the opening theme songs for Seasons 1 and 2 (yes, there is a difference!).

(...) Space 1999, the Fanderson release is a double CD. Same for Space 1999 Year 2.

Oh how I would love to have that those, especially the year 2. Derek Wadsworth made some breathtakingly beautiful music for that. Numbering back from the most favourite:
1) The emporium
2) Alpha ahoy
3) Garden of Vega
4) Make me a pretty nose
5) The exiles emerge
6) We're all aliens
7) Title music (prefer this to the Barry Gray version)

To have more of that would be sublime.

The first CD I purchased was the promo CD for Year 2 ,before Fanderson released their double CD.
