Don't hold your breath. These are going on sale because they've still been hanging around all these many years later. Is there any music missing or are you just hoping for a remaster? I can't see Varese bothering on a "Deluxe Edition" for this one since 1) it's already pretty deluxe and 2) it was one of their worst sellers. I gotta say it's funny that Cleopatra can be had for $8 but Spartacus, even on sale, will set you back $88. I'm not the biggest North fan ever but personally I prefer Cleopatra to Spartacus. Definitely worth $8 for a two-disc set in case anyone is teetering on the edge of buying it. Other scores very worth getting which are on sale right now: Alias Season 2 (Giacchino for only $3.99? Grab it! The highlights are amazing.) Super 8 (ditto except $4.99) The 3 Worlds of Gulliver (McNeely Herrmann recording...they aren't all perfect aside from perhaps North by Northwest, but it's still good and only $2.49!!!) Flyboys (supposed to be one of Trevor Rabin's better scores though I haven't heard it; $2.49 is tempting!) Hancock (great John Powell score for only $4.99) Family Plot (one of my favorite Williams scores, and I paid more than list price for it at SAE a couple years ago...) The Red Pony (amazing Goldsmith Americana...shocked it went on such a deep discount so quickly after having been released) Of course all the Goldsmith titles on sale are worth getting... Yavar

Apart from others two worth mentioning: Cleopatra Original Motion Picture Soundtrack Music by Alex North Release Date: 03/20/01 Price: $7.99 Retail: $24.98 => http://www.varesesarabande.com/servlet/the-ON-SALE-NOW/Categories This means something, really! Remember the situation with first FSM Kong CD? The final price was $4.95, and after that we got definitive edition. Maybe this situation will repeated again? Hard to imagine a more definitive release of this score. The definitive release will have 2 CDs of interpretations of the Love Theme and a DVD of bloopers from the movie.

I can't see Varese bothering on a "Deluxe Edition" for this one since 1) it's already pretty deluxe and 2) it was one of their worst sellers. As I've said before, the "CLEOPATRA" is not the complete score; there are three or four cues missing. There may have been a few overlays missing, such as preserved on the final track on the LP album. Unlike "SPARTACUS," no alternates were included. Perhaps a three CD set is in the works, which may include the LP program. The score is a modern masterpiece worth preserving. Then again, you may be right and Varese may not bother with a re-release.

There's also a third possibility. Perhaps LLL or Intrada will do the honors, as LLL did with "THE ROBE" and Intrada did with "THE GREAT ESCAPE." Both "THE ROBE" and "THE GREAT ESCAPE" were originally released by Varese in deluxe editions.
