I think it's (kinda) hilarious that a relatively low-profile composer for Green Lantern TAS can work with a small music budget and make synthesizers/samples/few live players sound almost like a full orchestra...and then certain big name Hollywood composers for super big budget films get HUGE music budgets and HUGE orchestras...and then somehow make them sound like crap.
Absolutely I'm interested. Patriot Games is my favorite of the four Jack Ryan scores. Its sublime, tremendously haunting, and highly thematic (the expanded release proves I'm not senile saying that). To me, it takes real skill to craft something like Patriot Games. So focused, so precise, and something that evokes goosebumps at times.
Assault on Ryan's House gets tremendous playtime in my iTunes library. Something like what happens around the 3:15 mark when Tony Hinnigan's frantic toyo playing is supplemented with synth voices almost being used as percussion hits...its magnificently eerie.
Have to say again how awesome Patriot Games is. Stunning sound and to me such an avant gard score... so different. Horner was the man. Now PLEASE give us some Red Heat!
