This just in at Varese: THE SMURFS 2 Original Motion Picture Score Music Composed by Heitor Pereira (The Smurfs, Despicable Me) In this sequel to Columbia Pictures/Sony Pictures Animation's hybrid live action/animated family blockbuster comedy The Smurfs, the evil wizard Gargamel creates a couple of mischievous Smurf-like creatures called the Naughties that he hopes will let him harness the all-powerful, magical Smurf-essence. But when he discovers that only a real Smurf can give him what he wants, and only a secret spell that Smurfette knows can turn the Naughties into real Smurfs, Gargamel kidnaps Smurfette and brings her to Paris, where he has been winning the adoration of millions as the world's greatest sorcerer. It's up to Papa, Clumsy, Grouchy, and Vanity to return to our time, reunite with their human friends Patrick and Grace Winslow, and rescue her! Will Smurfette, who has always felt different from the other Smurfs, find a new connection with the Naughties Vexy and Hackus – or will the Smurfs convince her that their love for her is True Blue? Returning cast includes Neil Patrick Harris, Jayma Mays, Sofia Vergara, with Katy Perry as Smurfette and Hank Azaria as Gargamel. Brendan Gleeson joins the cast as Victor. Joining the voice cast are Christina Ricci and JB Smoove as Vexy and Hackus. Heitor Pereira returns to the franchise with a colorful score for orchestra and choir. Sony Pictures Animation will open The Smurfs 2 nationwide on July 31. Varese Sarabande Catalog # 302 067 211 8 Release Date: 07/23/13 James

What the heck, 41 tracks?? What happened to listener-friendly suites?

Looks like it must be for the choir thing, which is why some CDs have splitted cues, where the choir comes in.

What the heck, 41 tracks?? What happened to listener-friendly suites? Maybe some composers like it different ways. Check out Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs. That's the one that bothered me a bit - 8 tracks that are under 30 seconds, the shortest 2 being only 13 seconds long! Not for me then!
