Like JohnF, I remember a poster at the theater with Kamen and Sanborn's names on it. I went in to see the film, and suddenly Mark Mancina was the composer. And WHAT a score. One of my absolute favorites ever. Seems like the trumpet became the new solo instrument instead of Sanborn's sax. Thankfully, I got a CD called The Hans Zimmer/Mark Mancina Collaboration after I had seen the film, featuring 2 cuts from the score. I now also have a great "unmentionable" with Mancina's score.

Funnily, several of those received good scores in the end, like Mancina's Fair Game and Assassins, Gary Chang's Dead Bang, and Deep Forest's (and Graeme Revell's) Strange Days.

I think this might've been back when WaterTower Music was getting started and LLL wasn't sure about their future with WB... thankfully, that doesn't appear to be a problem anymore.
Hopefully. But it won't be this year, as I asked MV in another thread here a month or two ago if there were any other rejected scores coming from them, and he said likely not, and "First love" was the only one he he thought was this year. Of course it could change, but I don't think it's likely. Wish I had the precise quote in front of me.

Actually, according to the IMDB trivia entry for that film, I think it says that Gary Chang's score was partially replaced by Kamen when the producers hired him to write music with an "edge" similar to Die Hard; he received an "additional music" credit. It would be very nice to see both scores eventually released in their entirety someday

I'd thought that the opposite situation happened on Dead Bang-- Michael Kamen had written the original score, and Chang was brought in for a new score with Kamen receiving the "additional" credit for the cues which were retained. Does anyone have any references to cite besides IMDB?
Surprisingly, the posters I find on-line don't list any composer, which is unusual for the time, though there was an odd period in the 80s when some Disney posters didn't list their composers, even big names like Hamlisch for Three Men and a Baby and North for Good Morning, Vietnam.
