IN THE TRACKS OF (BANDES ORIGINALES) is a series of documentaries about the greatest composers of film scores.
While compiling this series of composers profiles, we will study this profession, which through the evolution of the film industry has become an essential link in the film creation process.
These biographies allow us to discover or rediscover European or international composers.
These greatly renowned composers have the perfect insight into the cinematographic world from an “emotional” point of view.?Their vast experience enables them to share their passion with us yet also remain professionally objective enough, to question, doubt and be creative.
As privileged confidants of the greatest filmmakers of the last forty years, these brilliant artists take us into a unique world of creativity, which we will slowly discover through their personal individuality.
The main theme for each of these documentaries is to follow the creative process of the musical score, from the very personal beginning to the movie theatre projectors.
First documentaries of this series are dedicated to Gabriel Yared, Maurice Jarre, Georges Delerue, Bruno Coulais, Lalo Schifrin, Alexandre Desplat…

I remember hearing about this series years ago, but then it seemed to vanish, for whatever reason (the project was halted or some such thing?). In any case, I'm glad to see its return in DVD format.

This is the type of film music missionary activity I fight for!

Surprised at the low response (almost missed this)? Great news indeed, any new documentary releases are great.

Hey come on over here, fellas, if you need any help. We're always happy to oblige, especially when it comes to setting matters straight!

I have the Jarre and Delerue DVDs. They are very good (and the Delerue is much better than the documentary which was made on him in the 90s). There isn't a lot in either production in the way of film clips or musical examples (I'm sure clearances for those would have been prohibitively expensive) but I enjoyed both productions and am glad I purchased them.

I have the one on Lalo Schifrin and would certainly recommend it. One or two interviewees I could have done without, but overall a decent tribute to a true musical genius.

A wonderful series of documentaries. I especially like the fact that the complete interviews can be found separately as bonus items.
Beside the film dedicated to Alexandre Desplat that seems to have been postponed, wasn't Howard Shore supposed to be one of their next titles?
