From Blu-ray.com :

http://www.blu-ray.com/news/?id=11190

"Scream Factory, the horror-thriller offshoot of independent film distributor Shout Factory, has revealed that it is planning to bring to Blu-ray director John Carpenter's Prince of Darkness (1987), starring Donald Pleasence, Jameson Parker, and Victor Wong. The release is expected to arrive on the market later this year."

Good news big grin Some love it, some hate it...for me it gets better with each viewing. Flawed but fascinating and at times damn creepy ! Plus, Carpenter & Howarth's masterpiece score.

Can't wait.

Will definitely get this. Only have a couple Scream Factory releases so far, but have been highly impressed with the love and care they put into their work.

Matter of fact John Carpenter's career is one big turkey, Except for parts of HALLOWEEN and some good moments in THE THING- , the rest is moderate at the best. Furthermore as a human being carpenter is a turkey but that would be an insult to that wonderful creature that roams the earth.

I was working on a thoughtful reply, but since you rarely put any thought into your own posts, I decided this would just be easier:

Piss off already.

Real mature response-let me see I give my opinion , you don't agree so you say piss off.ok, what would the alternate response be, a board where everybody has to agree with everyone and if they don't then they get told to pissed off. Like I mean, if you say Georges Delerue is a turkey, why would I tell you to piss off, your right, your opinion. I feel like I am dealing with a bunch of 12 year olds, What do you have? A john carpenter soap bottle you use when you take your bubble bath. You can't be right on this issue without taking a bit of democracy out of this board. Period. This is what I feel about john carpenter, my right. get a life, baby boy.

You contributed nothing but your negative opinion. It came off as more of an attack than anything. You made a subject about John Carpenter's film all about you and your dislike of the film and him as well. You also called Carpenter a turkey, how mature was that? Where did that come from?

And oh yeah, one more thing, piss off.

There's a difference between expressing an opinion in a thoughtful manner and just being a moron. You have demonstrated mostly just the latter in almost every post I've ever seen from you.

I always wonder about people who can't seem to stay away from topics they claim they have no interest in. There are plenty of topics here about things I don't like, and you know what? I simply stay away from them. I have better things to do than go into threads and be negative for the sake of being negative, interrupting discussions and making an ass out of myself. It would be a waste of time when I could find topics about things I do like and discuss them instead.

And I have a life, thank you very much, baby boy.

There's definitely some shonky dialogue and acting in PRINCE OF DARKNESS, but after THE THING it's easily my favourite Carpenter movie and it's long overdue for a rewatch. Fantastic mood, fantastic ideas, and a wonderful score.

More importantly, however, there's STILL no UK release for IN THE MOUTH OF MADNESS.

The Thing is really done justice by the transfer to HD... colors, details, everything.

I also have a copy of his Assault on Precinct 13 on HD DVD and it is an OK popcorn flick as well... somewhat similar in the storyline and structure to The Thing, in some aspects. (unlikely group attacked by insurmountable odds and not trusting each other)

I would love to see this get a blu-ray release, easily one of Carpenter's most underrated movies.

Regarding Prince of Darkness, it tends to drag in parts but the score makes up for it and the mood it creates is amazing. Love to revisit it as well.

This is a Blu Ray I've most wanted, and now I must have it! The wait is going to be too long. I can't wait to see what cover artwork Shout/Scream Factory will make up for this one.

ASSAULT ON PRECINCT 13 is basically a redo of RIO BRAVO. I love both of them.

TO STORYTELLER-NOW HOLD ON , one minute, I could have sworn a few weeks ago I wrote about if there was a way to give a person like you help if you were in a tight money situation, and I like others would have gladly sent you stuff if you needed it.I also would like to mention that in another thread, one mature man stated he thought GORGO WAS A BAD FILM, in which in mature manner PHILLY SON and I simply didn't agree, we didn't tell him to PISS OFF, Why in God's name would we.If he felt GORGO was a turkey and Eugene Lourie was a turkey, so it is his opinion, big deal. let me ask you something, do you want people to have an opinion only so they can agree with you or your taste's with everything and if they don't you attack them? What is the point of discussing anything if everything is just going to be a one sided viewpoint on issues.I think John Carpenter is a overrated moderate at best director, period, I am sure many people will agree with that viewpoint, but the point is who cares if they do or not, a mature person does not attack another on a creative issue, Furthermore as for what one thinks of a person, here also lies a problem, if I was to review THE FILM the George Raft story-61- how would I review it, this touching story about the life of a wonderful nice man who gave so much to humanity becomes a big movie star.I assume on this board I would have to review it that way, which is why I think this is sad.is all this board is worth is that close minded way of speaking and thinking. One more thing for now, then there could never be here a SISKEL EBERT DEBATE COULD THERE BE?, AND IF YOU SAY THERE COULD BE, TELL ME HOW WOULD THAT COME ABOUT.
