Adrienne Barbeau. Especially when she does that sultry radio voice in The Fog.

What I wouldn't give for a special CD that has the easy listening songs from the film with her talking in between them.

Isn't she playing Glenn Miller?

An actress who looked nice (face wise; below the neck is nothing to talk about) but who'se face really tested my endurance is Melanie Griffith. I hate those child voices. There is one episode in the second season of the "Six million dollar man" where a woman has such a "helium voice" it's pure torture to listen to that. There are voices that are affected by the language they speak and the culture they come from, and there are voices that are affected by the size of the vocal chords. Both are a torture.

I'm quite certain that there is one GM song playing when she is in contact with the weather man who gets killed. Unless it's some GM sound clone.

One of my greatest pipe dreams has ALWAYS been to have a voice people love listening to. Consequently, one of favorite things about watching movies and TV is seeing one of the men above in what I am watching. I have rented dozens of movies over the years just because one of these men was in it.

Langella was never better than he was in Masters of the Universe.

O Herlihy was the reason I sat through Halloween 3 and Robocop 1 and 2.

Mc Goohan MADE Braveheart for me. I treasure every scene he is in.

And Darth Vader's " I am your father!" speech is simple one of favorite things. Period. That voice gives me goosebumps every time. "Search your feelings! You KNOW it to be true!" God I love that.

Voices that have made an impression in the last few years are those of Stephen McHattie, Anika Noni Rose, Matthew Macfadyen.

Michael Gambon

Both these men have voices that I call excellent "villain" voices.
