What a grand beautiful theme from LAWRENCE ROSENTHAL on this spy action film, I remember picking this up decades ago on a nice VARESE SARABANDE LP[love their covers and the feel of them], I know I liked the theme and the mood cues, but hearing it again after so many years, that is some beautiful theme. any comments?

I've got the LP too, dan. It's one of my favourites of Rosenthal's works, and I'm generally quite lukewarm about his lushly romantic themes. BRASS TARGET does sound a lot like THE INCREDIBLE HULK theme mixed with THE CASSANDRA CROSSING though.... Maybe that's why I like it so much.

I adore Laurence Rosenthal's BRASS TARGET score too.
It has the same feeling as Jerry Goldsmith's dramatic scores
during the same time had e.a. BOYS FROM BRAZIL, CASSANDRA CROSSING
as noted before - gritty action and suspense scoring and a bitter-sweet
and downbeat melancholy in the quieter parts.
This was a major film score of 1978 and definitely and urgently needs
a CD release - the problem here is that Varese Sarabande has the rights in
perpetuity, so no other label is able to release the score on CD at
the moment. Only Varese can do (CD Club Series), but that is very unsecure
as nobody knows at the moment if their CD Club will continue and if
they consider this Soundtrack title as worthy for a CD release.
We only can wait and hope ...
