Wow! That sounds very promising indeed.

If they're hinting at something Trek-related on the horizon, wouldn't that imply that the "embargo" (for the new movie) was all BS?

I suppose it could be just the announcement of an upcoming release, perhaps for in the fall? Looks like we'll see sometime next week, though.

The "embargo" has already been said to be not in place. I can't tell you how the rumor started but I have seen similar product embargoes before with new movie releases. Anyway, this time for this movie they aren't doing it.

So . . . we're getting an expanded Best of Both Worlds before an expanded Insurrection?!

That'd be fine with me so long as they all get remastered. Let's not gripe about order. (The best stuff usually comes later in the year anyway. Don't forget that.)

I just hope they fix some of the digital errors that are with the original album material.

Great! I was a bit bummed that this wasnt in the Ron Jones TNG set from FSM but when this comes out I will be able to tag it to the set.

The Blu-Ray comes out next week. Seems like a logical tie-in to me.

Not to mention theatres nationwide will be showing screenings of the remastered episode in IMAX on April 25th. smile

Anyone have an idea of what's exactly missing that's not already on the previous GNP & FSM boxset?

edit: I see the answer is already in this thread, so mostly short cues...

I'll be veeeery happy if BOBW is brought up to the incredible audio standard of the Ron Jones box - and if the audio pops found on the original disc are obliterated.

MV Gerhard himself who runs Lalaland Records said at one point the embargo was very much real. Not sure what happened with it or why there seems to be a disconnect between what people are saying.

In any case, this is something I mentioned in the other thread.

I was asking the same question, but with today's FB post, I'm wondering if I'm starting to see a pattern come together that we can rely on with GNP.

First Contact expanded was released out of nowhere in April 2012. Generations expanded was released in October 2012. BoBW looks like it might be released in April 2013. So one would think from this pattern that Insurrection would follow in October 2013, if the 6th month intervals hold up. The other possibility is that they might release the final one in tandem with the ST:ID release, though that would kind of compete with the official ID release by Giacchino.

I don't mean to dispute anyone. But there is most definitely not an embargo on Star Trek. Companies everywhere are cashing in on this new movie and all kinds of products are being sold everywhere. New items are being released every day. My inbox is full of "Star Trek" spam right now. smile Action figures, posters, dvds, statues, clothing, and even Star Trek liquor.

I remember MV saying that, too. The embargo was over in like November.

I assume, if the embargo is still going and hasn't been nixed, it will begins just up to or the day of the new JJ Rebootams's new film.

An expanded release of The Best of Both Worlds would certainly be a welcome treat even if it only added back the 5 minutes of additional music from the Ron Jones set. The way the original soundtrack was edited made it almost impossible for the added music to be integrated seamlessly since the editing had the pieces of music almost cross fade into one another.

If GNP bought perpetual rights to this score, as they apparently did, it's probable that they don't need to relicense anything. And it would seem to me that that would mean that Paramount could not tell them their perpetual rights somehow don't include the months of May-November 2013. That would sort of seem to mean "not perpetual."

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I think they need a new license for the unreleased music.
