Pino's back in the horror genre with this remake of the 1978 film from the director of Not Quite Hollywood (a very, very good documentary on Australian cinema).
Film opened in Australia recently...here's an excerpt from one review. Sounds promising.
Review by Louise Keller: >>>>>>>>Screaming violins counter the eerie silence of comatose patients in this startling and terrifying horror film in which obsession and control are its main themes. Antony I. Ginnane, sitting in the producer's chair for the second time, should be well pleased with the result that is sure to attract a cult following and good word of mouth. Garry Richard's constantly moving camera accentuates our discomfort and if armchair terror is your adrenalin, you'll get high on Patrick. Pino Donaggio's glorious discordant orchestral score is a standout, making the hairs on the back of our necks stand up, never letting up and always keeping us tightly on the leash. Bloody scary!>>>>>>>>>>
Here's another ... >>>>>>>>>The script is robustly accompanied by Pino Donaggio’s (Don’t Look Now / Carrie) truly magnificent score which really ramps up the suspense. The film draws parallels with the works of Hitchcock and Brian DePalma, who also collaborated with Donaggio>>>>>>>>>
And also had a score by Goblin on the Italian version.
Danbeck, I still need to get this score by Goblin. I was wondering if the film version with goblin score is available with english subtitles or even english dub.
Quartet Records has posted on their website that the PATRICK soundtrack will now be released in April 2014, having been pushed back from it's original March 2014 date. I am really looking forward to this score, as it has received some excellent notices in the film's reviews!
The film is available on xfinity on demand already, but since I'm really only interested in the Donaggio score I haven't shelled out the seven bucks to see it. I'll just buy the CD instead.
