Well after a first listen I really dig the score. It might be more Zanelli then Zimmer but if I like it I can care less. Also really love how the composer put the Tell overture through so many permutations and made it an action track. Hope Intrada provides some bonus cues.

I think if the Intrada version was going to have any additional music beyond the digital download version, they would have let us know by now. IE, "Don't buy the digital download version everyone - our CD version will be longer!" Since that hasn't happened, I'd assume it'll be an identical program.

I feel like Zimmer is putting out two sorts of works these days:

Derivatives of Sherlock Holmes
Derivatives of Inception

This is OK, but clearly the guy has a lot more talent than he's putting to use these days.

only the 2nd track is reminiscent of Sherlock Holmes. Nothing more

The album is 49 minutes long, actually.

Ridiculous . Intrada likely had nothing to do with the album program. They probably simply had to take the album prepared for the originally slated Disney records release, and had no option to add anything to it.

That'd be my guess as well. I remember either Doug or Roger saying in their forum that Alan Silvestri was excited to have the physical CD version of The Avengers have more score than the digital download version; Maybe Hans Zimmer did not want the physical CD version of Lone Ranger to differ from the digital version. The point is, I'm pretty sure these kinds of decisions are up to the composers, not up to the labels.

Ok sooo... Why manufacture an album at all especially if it wont drop for a month after the digital release? Doesnt make a lick of sense to me. I dont expect sales to be good at all for Intrada if it has the same contents as the download.

I suspect you are correct here. Intrada DOES NOT dictate to Disney. It's a mosquito against a gorilla. The older stuff I don't think Disney cares about as far as what they release. The older releases are the real jewels here for us and Intrada. Though I have no idea if the sales bear that out. Don't forget Hans Zimmer may have had a hand in what gets released as well. Ultimately everyone must make decisions based on what is value to them.
Us as consumers as well.

Why? Because it was part of a deal with Disney?
And thanks to this deal they can release not only worthless scores like The Lone Ranger but also some real gems from Disney vaults?
I don't know.

Intrada just put up a preorder page for The Lone Ranger. It's the same 11 track program and cover as the digital version

Beautiful and delicious eclectic soundtrack!
My fellow complainers, Zimmer is for sure today's top film composer.

Well, I think you might all find this interesting: The Best Buy exclusive Blu-ray Combo Pack contains a bonus album download of Wanted, music inspired by the film and an exclusive version of "The Finale William Tell Overture."

The last track of the CD is titled Finale, if I'm not mistaken, so I wonder if this is just a remix of that track.

If anyone goes out and gets it, please let us all know!
