Tangerine Dream Legend. Sigh. Even with the recent unexpected TD releases, it feels like this one will remain locked away.

Probably all of Conti's full original ROCKY scores.

Keep your chin up, henry. I'd lost all hope of ever seeing a complete Godfather. Imagine my surprise yesterday! (Someday, we might get Godfather II as well... One can hope.)

Hugo Friedhofer’s scores to the Western television series “The Outlaws” his episode scores for “Voyage To The Bottom Of The Sea” (plus the two that were done in collaboration with Alexander Courage), as well as Curtin’s and Ted Nichols’ music for the Hanna-Barbera mid ‘60s superhero series (post “Jonny Quest”).

John Barry's Sinful Davy. Completely recorded in 1968 or 69 but rejected, so can't even be reconstructed from the film. Tapes lost or destroyed. Score lost.

I'm not at all happy about this.

This thread is kinda amusing to read. While barryfan clearly asks for FAMOUS scores, most of the suggestions are in obscure territory. Second, many of the suggestions are expansions, which are somewhat different than scores that will never be released (since most of them have a release already, even if they are - in their eyes - insufficient). Third, barryfan himself seems to have forgotten the many unreleased electronic scores out there, many of which have been suggested, when saying "unless you start from scratch with an orchestra". So amusement in all directions! big grin

In any case, I think my pick would be TOP GUN, as has been previously mentioned. I was surprised they didn't use MAVERICK as a window to get it out, but I know that LLL has tried and encountered all kinds of hurdles along the way. So I'm starting to think it will never be released.

Depends what you mean by famous, but probably among the most wanted Italian soundtracks that are apparently lost forever.

Morricone 1968 Danger: Diabolik
Morricone 1975 Labbra di lurido blu
Trovaioli 1972 La mala ordina
Bacalov 1973 Il boss
Savina 1973 Lisa e il diavolo

Six years later, one has been released!

I'll take the first one, and it was recorded in Mexico under the direction of Raul Lavista (the dean of Mexican film music) by the Mexico City Symphony Orchestra (the same orchestra Herschel Burke Gilbert used for his score for "Comanche" and the one used for Fred Steiner's "Perry Mason" main theme) though I think it's lost to the ages.

Peter Ibbetson (Ernst Toch and Hugo Friedhofer) too old
Saint Joan (Hugo Friedhofer) likely lost
Stage Stuck (Alex North) likely lost
Companions in Nightmare (Bernard Herrmann) likely lost

Is "Saint Joan" an alternate title for the underrated "Joan Of Arc"?

My bad! It is indeed Joan of Arc (1948).
