THE HANGING TREE... I can picture Warner Brothers saying it's owned by the Gary Cooper estate and the Gary Cooper estate saying it's owned by Warner Brothers.

I'm still pissed about LAWRENCE OF ARABIA. Had they been found the whole 'complete' score would have received superb remastering and deluxe packaging.

Also the missing Lapti Nek and Sail Barge source music from RETURN OF THE JEDI.

So the complete Tadlow New Recording with decent sound is not to you liking ?

Says who? I just adore it. I'am only lamenting on the loss of the original recordings for archival's sake. Where would I be without your fabulous LAWRENCE recording and the rest of the Tadlow series?

This came out on CD. I own it.

Only the LP program. Varese tried to expand it but the tapes were ruined.

Point taken. smile But it seems the goal posts for this thread is moving then. The question was, what famous score will never get released. (In any form) Not what recording sessions will never get released, or what complete score will never get released.

Exactly. Plenty of scores named have had lp & CD releases, and whether some are "famous" or not is another story. In many cases, "famous" can get replaced with "I want."

Quite right. Which is why The African Queen is the last of the holy grails. And my thread will remain to the bitter end. Ugh, it'll probably get a posthumous release just to rub it in.frown

Hugo Friedhofer - "The Secret Invasion", which was recorded in Germany with Kurt Graunke conducting the Graunke Symphony Orchestra Of Munich. Though Friedhofer's estate gets royalities from D.V.D. or Blu ray sales and television showings, I don't if the tapes are known to exist.

It certainly is to mine; it is my go to recording of the score. Great sound, great recording. What more could I ask?
Thank you, James.

I suppose if Waxman's "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde" was going to be released, it would have happened by now.

At least there is the 10 minute suite on John Mauceri's Hollywood Nightmares album. Just watched this around Halloween and found the suite a nice summation of the score. Thank heavens for re-recordings, as others are saying.

Depends what you mean by famous, but probably among the most wanted Italian soundtracks that are apparently lost forever.

Morricone 1968 Danger: Diabolik
Morricone 1975 Labbra di lurido blu
Trovaioli 1972 La mala ordina
Bacalov 1973 Il boss
Savina 1973 Lisa e il diavolo

No, I think they said they couldn't use them. Jones donated them to a university (I don't recall the name of it). Sadly, he donated a lot to them, including most of his rejected scores. Maybe the university wanted too much, maybe they wouldn't let them access it, hell -- maybe Jones put a stop to it for some reason.

Here's exactly what Roger over att Intrada wrote:

(- FREEJACK is pretty much dead. Elements found...but Trevor has been completely disinterested in having it come out.)

So the problem lies in the Trevor JONES camp.

Oh man, I'm thinking of another title that La La Land did, "The Sender".

The University of Leeds has the stereo tapes, but the LLLR release was in mono. When pointed out the explination was:

"On this particular title, we were obligated to use the source material in Paramount's possession. That material happened to be only in mono, but very good quality mono, so we decided to make this score finally available as a legitimate, official release.

Better mono than nono!
